Forest Fires becoming a problem

I just created a town of about 6,000+ sims and already there are automatic forest fires breaking out south of the parkway, this area has become really devastated. I'm not sure what's spawning the fires in the middle of nowhere. Could it be hot temperatures, arsonists in the woods, etc? All of the forestry  had to be replaced costing me simoleons to plant new trees in the burnt out zones smh.

Hayley had a similar Strange Fire in uninhabited city. And after some discussion she concluded:

The more likely reason is that it was a squirrel playing with matches. Squirrels have been wrecking havoc lately.

There is also this to consider:

Looking thru the Flora exemplar for each of the trees in Simcity_1.dat shows Flammability set to 0x0A (10 in decimal) to 0x0C (12 in decimal).  While this is a small chance, it is non-zero. *;)

However, your fires seem to be occurring over a larger area than the small chances would seem to indicate. Even with mis-fired missiles from the Missile Base (if you have one) they shouldn't be affecting that large of an area. o.O

Or is that pic after the initial fire had been burning for a long while?

Make sure the area has fire coverage, which should solve the problem.

But I agree with Corina, this isn't particularly normal, there must be a root cause why fires are frequent in this area. Have a look at the data view, check your crime rates, were these fires arson? Otherwise perhaps some of the data there will help you to see a potential issue.

The fire originated in a small area to the west of that screen shot, then I dispatched fire trucks but their hoses can't reach into the woods. So it eventually spread and I allowed it to for that realistic effect. After it spread and burned down the Kroger's and other residents in the area I plopped several fire stations to help combat the burning neighborhoods. Then after I got everything under control a fire starts on the northern half of the map. Maybe it's kids in the woods misbehaving.

This is one of those small towns with a conservative (Republican) style town government. The mayor only wants 1 fire station within town limits. Since the county owns the land outside of the town along a main route way, it now has a forest fire station with 16 trucks, and a small  runway for a fire plane. The county will fit the bill for handling most of the  forest fires in the area.

Have you checked your flammibility map to see if there are any 'hot spots' in your forest?  It could be from a nearby building or if you don't have any water supply to the tile.  Also, any area within a fire station range should not see any fires, since they are automatically put out.

Is there a chance, that you have the Poseidon Weather Controller from xannepan installed? This mod can cause some serious wildfires during bad weather and thunderstorm season.

    Kind regards!
