Thanks to maetoch I now have a water texture I am very pleased with, the base texture for the concrete is looking good as well.

This is just one piece of-course, but it should give you some idea of how it is comming along.

Here is a photo of three of the pieces put together, still need some work on adding dirt, and small props, but it is getting there.

THERE WE GO! I've been waiting for something like this! I've tried many times to make something like this in the BAT, but it never came out good, but this is looking pretty nice so far. Suggestion: Maybe you can make that center water area a little wider for more water capacity.

    GREAT WORK!44.gif

This looks fantastic! And is a project which I think we need. And already it is looking superb!

Very realstic too, I'm sure countless amounts of people will want to use these lots in their cities! You are doing some great stuff!

I look forward to seeing how these develop. Good luck, and keep at it! 9.gif

Since each side is a seperate piece, and the set will come with water tiles, you could make it as wide as you want. Some areas of the LA River are very narrow when there is not much water in them. There will be several varations on this as well.

Thank you very much. Now that I have some base textures I am happy with, I should be able to start adding details to really improve on it.

If anyone wishes to offer help with this project, I'd gladly accept it.

I plan to do 3 versions, this one, one with no water, and one that is full. And I see no reason to not release the GMax models, so sure.

Oh that water looks so gross.. Exactly the way it is supposed to! Maybe you can add some piles and scatterings of trash at strategic points for the ultimate in realism..

Wow! This looks brilliant and will be awesome for industrial areas. I can see it in game now: starting at the u-store-it, winding its way through the gritty I-D buildings...past the landfill...

I know that there'll be different pieces: are you planning doing a bridge as well? Maybe you could do an end piece with a large opening as everyone will need to terraform anyway to get it in game...

    Brilliant work!

I do plan bridges, and an end piece. In fact I will be doing the end piece next (it will actually be 3 pieces - Left, right, and optional middle)

Wait a sec, the water is pink...?  It looks like the stuff from Ghostbusters 2.  I mean other than that, the BAT is great and very realistic!

Here is what I have so far for an end .. it is in two parts, left and right. I was thinking about trying to make this a variable width river, but I am starting to have second thoughts.

My thought, if I could do it, would be to have the water level change as the seasons do, just like in the real world.

I really like the end bridge piece and the fact that it angles towards the river/stream/putrid water (call it what you will!). This is looking awesome!

very cool work on the bridge.
maybe you can try to make overhanging textures so it is possible to use the game's bridges and the ploppables from the NAM.
i think your bridgelots look more like tunnel entrances now.
anyway, its some very cool work your doing.
    keep it up

This piece is really supposed to be placed at the edge of your city, as a starting point for the river. I posted this pic to show it could also be used as a type of bridge. I do have some over hanging pieces which are still being worked on, for use with NAM bridges. I am not sure the ingame bridges will work as they are designed to be over water, and not land.

Hey where's the graffiti?  You should add some to the walls if you want it to look like the real LA river. 10.gif

It is a pinkish tone when it rains and that's the only time the LA river is actually a river....the rest of the year it's just a giant street gutter.

Don't forget, this is a work in progress ... I plan to add the grafitti before I post it, also I plan to do versions with no water.
