RMIP-2: A strange texture override on my ramps...

So, I've decided to start building a custom airport via RMIP-2 after a few months of playing around on maps. When I was building my ramps, though, I noticed that there's a weird texture on the ramps (non-747):

As you can see in the top left corner, there's some strange override that is happening only on full squares; anything smaller than that is fine.

I was planning on removing the offending texture, but I'm just not sure which texture it is. I'm suspecting that it's from the SHK Parking Pack; is my hunch right?

It looks to me like the original texture is the default Maxis Sidewalk. If this is correct, have you installed a sidewalk mod with that concrete per-chance? I don't use RIMP and it's simply too much work to download it all and dig through the pieces to look at the problem for you. But if you can find out the texture ID of the problem piece, that would help identify the problem.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

I did; it was the JPN Sidewalk Mod.

I've already did a clean reinstall of the game + Plugins folder. Let's see if that helps...

I'm sorry to say it won't.

The problem is the way this piece was made. It uses the default Maxis sidewalk textures. Thus whatever sidewalk mod you install will override it with your custom sidewalks. If it is the sidewalk mod which is overriding that texture, you have to choose between using a sidewalk mod and suffering this problem. Or ditching a custom sidewalk mod to make this match correctly. I'm pretty familiar with these issues, having spent years modding my way around them.

The other solution is much simpler. Open this lot in the Lot Editor and swap the texture to use another ID. I've attached such a texture which you could use. Just change the original base texture (ID: 25901000) for the one in the included DAT (ID: F834400A). You will need to update all the pieces that have the problem. For now, it's the simplest solution.

    :edit:

For now I've removed this, since it appears the texture may not be from Maxis. Either way it's clear there is either one of two things going on here:

    1. The texture has been overridden correctly by another mod. Such as a sidewalk mod.
    2. There is a texture ID conflict, causing the wrong texture to display.

Either can be resolved by either moving the problem files out of your plugins folder, or making the RIMP textures load later. But, something in these cases has to give. Meaning one mod has to give way to the other. Because if both have the same ID, the entire game can only utilise one of them. If my first hunch was right that the texture in use is 0x25901000, then it's a sidewalk mod. Easily fixed by re-lotting the affected RIMP textures to use a duplicate sidewalk texture with a new ID.

But, if it's not a sidewalk texture ID, then the problem may need more work to resolve. Either way, if one of you with the RIMP is willing to assist me track it down, I'm happy to try and find a solution here. But given it's such a large mod, that would take a lot more time than I have if I need to go through the entire set to find the issue.

In fact, the RMIP tarmacs aren't the Maxis sidewalks, but an enlarged version, supposed to mimic whitened concrete. So this cannot be related to sidewalk mods. I think is just an unfortunate coincidence. Try installing the RMIP texture files on a folder called z_____last (many underscores, do not datpack). This should avoid the other mods to override them.

In which case you are right, the conflict must lie elsewhere. But it does seem like a sidewalk texture from SLA to me... although there are so many subtle concrete variants out there, it's hard to be certain from an image alone.

I believe you're right, I had exactly the same problem some time ago with the Super Light Asphalt mod from Magneto, and uninstalling the sidewalk mod solved it. In my case, when I had to work in my airport tiles I simply moved the folders to desktop, and replaced them in Plugins when playing other city tiles.

Don't know if this problem also happens with other similar sidewalk mods.

    Good luck with it!

Yeah, the culprit's Magneto's sidewalk mod. Thanks for the help, guys.

(PS: Do you force the game to load content later by adding 'z____' or something similar after it?)

Yup, the game loads in an specific order: first the contents of the plugins folder on the instalation path (on Progam Files), then the contents on the Documents' Plugin folder. Inside both, the order is:

    1. from 0 to 9
    2. from A to Z
    3. From a to z
    4. zzzzz_last loads BEFORE z____last, the underscores are counted as later in the alphabet than z.

Also, you cannot start a folder name with an underscore, so the initial z is needed.
