Good terrain mod for creating semi desert region?

I want to create a semi-desert highland type region, for example like Montana in U.S. or sub-siberian regions in central Asia. I would like the terrain to be light orange/reddish like laterite soil. The terrain should be rugged & rough. Can anyone please suggest any terrain mod for this purpose? Also it would be of great help if anyone can suggest me good flora mod for this type of region (especially spikey, cactus type of trees). Any suggestion for any fauna mod for above region would also be great! Note that my pc is really hopeless at handling hd mods so please suggest sd mods.
