Graphical glitches after switching Terrain mods

Yesterday I switched from the Painted Desert terrain mod to the Appalachian terrain mod. In order to run this terrain mod, I had to switch to hardware mode (DirectX). Now I'm getting excessive vertical garbled graphics and intermittently vanishing textures. Based on other threads I've seen about this problem, it's likely that my laptop's integrated graphics card is at fault here. I'm running Windows 8.1 (64-bit), I don't have the other specs for this computer. What do you think and how can I fix it?

Some hardware works with DirectX, other hardware does not.

The only factor you can realistically control is the driver version of your graphics card. Although I warn you in advance, Intel's drivers are very poor with backwards compatibility, which tends to cause issues with SC4. A number of users reported Windows 10's new driver system fixed this very issue with Intel on-board graphics on modern systems. It seems MS have tweaked the way things work for the better. That said, there are too many factors to say what will work and won't without trying. If you can't get DirectX running well though, HD textures simply won't work. Loading the game will result in a CTD if you try.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Well, that's really up to you, since the free offer technically ended on July 31st. Although, there may still be a way ;). Of course, I leave the morality of that decision on your shoulders.

If you can get it free, you have 30 days to roll-back to the previous edition of Windows. So if it doesn't work out, you'd loose nothing (except the time installing it) in such a scenario.

Disclaimer: I'm no advocate of Windows 10, I think it's hateful personally. Of course you may feel differently.

@Delta 88Another option is to run the game in OpenGL mode.  This will still allow you to run in Hardware mode.  I had the same graphical issue with using DirectX but not with using OpenGL.  Before going with Windows 10, I would try using the OpenGL option.

The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older.  Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death."

I tried using OpenGL - the game won't even launch. I guess I'll just have to find a non-HD terrain mod that looks at least half as good as the Appalachian terrain mod. :(
