142,857

This number appears in the reciprocal of 7. 1/7 = 0.142857142857... for eternity. 14, 28, 56 are 7 multiplied by the powers of two.

Here's what's interesting about this number:

142857 x 2 =  285,714

142857 x 3 =  428,571

142857 x 4 =  571,428

142857 x 5 =  714,285

142857 x 6 = 857,142

The first six multiples of 142857 are all permutations of the digits 142857. Then of course we have:

142857 x 7 = 999,999

142857 + 857142 = 999,999

Not only are they permutations, but it also preserves the actual ordering of the digits if you "wrap around" the end of the number.

Today I found an user named "simcity4ever88". He was active from January 2013 until March 2013.

I write that just in case you're asked by some little children "4ever - how long is this?" Seems "4ever" is about three months.

A local analysis uncovered that every visitor on every visit of the famous beach of Plaja de Palma (Spain) carries away roundabout one ounce of sand - in their shoes, the bathing towels etc.

Doesn't sound much - but as the beach is very frequented this tot up to 82 tons in every holliday season which is quite a loss and made the beach shrinking for real - 15 meters in 30 years.

Today, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), a 50 years old guerrilla movement, gave up their arms and demobilized in the context of the peace treaty with the Colombian State. As part of the process, they literally gave up their weapons to a neutral party, the UN, at a rate of 1 piece by millitant. This is by itself a record, as previous experiences on guerrilla demobilization ended with the revolutionaries renouncing to far less weapons per people (to the order of 1:3 or even 1:5). As a compensation, the FARC will accede to a guarranted 10 seats on the legislative of the country, 5 deputies and 5 senators, alongside the ones they manage to win on their new role as a legal political party.

In 2016 statisticians in germany made 5 classes of habitants regarding their income ranging from very poor to very rich. What they found was quite shocking for a 'high developed' country.

Women of the highest income class had an average life expectancy of 84 years. Women of the lowest income class had an average life expentancy of 75,6 years. Men on the highest income class had an average  life expectancy of 81,3 years. Men of the lowest income class had an average life expectancy of 70,5 years.

This means dependend on your income - your life expectancy in germany will be 10,8 years shorter if you are a man - and 8,4 years shorter if you are a woman.
