When I open ILives Reader, it says failed to load SimCityLocale.dat

I still get that error message on windows 10. I already set up the Ilives Reader093 via editing the config file, saving on desktop, copying and pasting into C:\Program Files (x86)\llives\Reader093 folder, then opening. It's pointing towards C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\English\SimCityLocale.DAT, in the Options menu. I restarted the program, and it still throws the error message.

If windows 10 is the issue, please tell me. And if there is a solution with working with it in Windows 10, I would like to know.

Have you simply entered the correct path in the Option/Options menu? Always works for me. If you have, then perhaps Windows 10 is doing funny things, it could be that Reader doesn't have sufficient file permissions to access it? Try right clicking the Reader application and use "Run as Administrator".

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Yes, I have entered the correct path in the Options/Options menu. And I have tried "Run as Administrator". Perhaps 093 is not the newest version?

It's not, v1.54 can be found here which is the latest. But they both work the same way, in that they need to load this file. Many people still prefer to use .093, because it's generally very stable and reliable. The newer versions have had a lot of bugs, although it's still being worked on/supported, so if you come across one, report it and it should get resolved.

If you reboot your machine and load the reader before running other applications, especially SC4, does it work then? Perhaps the file is locked and the application can't read it?

The error might be irritating, but ultimately, the locale files are not really important, provided it doesn't throw up the same error regarding the SimCity DAT files 1-5, it probably won't cause any harm. As the locale files only contain the text displayed in the game. All the important stuff is in the SimCity dats.

Yes both the Lot Editor and the main game will lock the SimCity files. You can't even open anything in the reader with them running.

The exact same thing happens to me every time I open the reader. I have found that it is not a big deal; clicking ok opens up the reader as normal and nothing seems wrong. I've been using it like this for quite some time, so I just assumed it was something it did naturally.
