CJs : A separate section for CS and SC4 ?

(I'm also posting this on SC4 general threads).

Coming back after a little while to Simtropolis' city journals section, I suddenly feel overwhelmed, kinda:-)There is so much new stuff --and interesting stuff, but... I don't know about youse, but I don't have all day to wade through all of it -- P.R. Crastina cannot P.R.crastinate all the time:-))). My main interest is SC4, although I am also interested in CS.But  I am wondering what it would take to have two separate CJ sections, one specifically dedicated to CS and one to SC4 . We can always do a search by tags, but not everybody tags for CS, or put it in the entry title (I plead guilty : I put SC4 in the tags, but only indicated SC4 in the main title, at the very beginning).

I am not sure what kind of work it would entail for our gentle but busy webmasters, though, or if any Simtrop''s CJs perusers would agree,  so I can only ask and put it out there..

I think a better system would be for each entry to have a mandatory category when it's being created, similar to the title field, where creators have to select the game that is included in the entry.

Then, on the CJ page, there can be a 3 way toggle switch to show all CJ entries in chronological order, all SC4 entries in order, or all CS entries in order. This way, people have the choice of keeping the way it is, order changing it based on their preference of their needs for a particular task.

Just an idea though.

I don't really like the idea of completely separating the sections, it just adds another page to check, and complicates it all.

Yo --

"Michae951" has a good point about adding another page to check -- I can't deny that.

HOWEVER -- I tend to agree with Tariely.  Of course, my reasons are geared to my own situation.  My machine will not run "Skylines" -- so I do  not visit those entries.  It is difficult for me to go through all the entries on the CJ page and try to pick out which ones are which.  It takes a long time to load all those entries as well.

Adding a selector button might be OK -- but it also adds another level of complication to the system -- possibly adding more time to load.

But ANY method that separates the two game systems would be an improvement from my point of view !!

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

(Harry Lime to Holly Martins...Graham Greene's THE THIRD MAN...1949)

I see what you mean. Yes, it would be useful to have this on the CJ page. If adding a mandatory category when uploading entries is not too much of a technical hassle for the Keepers of the Gates, it would be a nice addition...

    • Dreadnought : if we have a switch toggling between game categories, couldn't we choose the order we want, and just check the one we prefer while ignoring the others ?

    Yes --

As long as the user can select a category and avoid having to sort it all out manually -- it's good.

would be really nice to see CSL SC4 journals separately, that means I'd have to post my entries in different journals but I'm fine with that.  originally I thought that's how simtrop has it set up, but you pretty much see both types of entries bunched up in the same page.  I vote separate journals for both CSL and SC4, would make it easier for me to find the kind of journals I'm looking for.
