He probably landed it on the ground and pressed Esc quickly so it looked like a crash. Airplanes will crash, they just won't take damage or explode. (Probably due to issues with people who went through Sept. 11)

It was an accident...I mean it really wans't a 'crash'.  It is just that the airstrip was facing a small hill and when the plane took off it got 'stuck' on the hill.  It was funny because the litle propellers were still spinning and stuff.  I don't think anyone got hurt at all.  I had to exit my city and when I re entered I had to 'smash' the hill down real fast before the plane took off again.  Luckly the firemen weren't tramatized too much and continue to put out fires in my city.  (oh and I'm a she, not a he)

Same thing happened to me with a few of my hospitals. Did you modify your hospital with any props? Do you have Rush Hour? I bet you can't get rid of that darned hospital lot either. Can't even burn or bulldoze it down.

I had one on the left hand side, and one smack in the middle....and it was operational! Thought it was pretty cool, although it did dissappear when i went back to my region....
