When the population was at 24-30,000 I had 6 recycling centers and 2 Waste Tech Plants, which kept my landfills bare. Garbage was not a problem. The population gets to around 37,000 and all of a sudden garbage shows up everywhere and the landfill is filling up like crazy. I wanted to see if plopping more garbage maintenance facilities would solve the problem, so I used a money cheat to get the funds to build a bunch of them, just to see what would happen. I even zoned for more landfill. Nothing changed, and the newly zoned landfill space filled with garbage quicker than the old. In total I have:

17 Garbage Disposal Shoots

10 Waste Tech Plants

4 Plasma Gasification Plants

16 Recycling Centers

Here's what the Ministry of Garbage tells me.

img0049.thumb.jpg.764deea4efc77fd2a0c8c0

I queried some of my industrial buildings and if I’m reading the information correctly, the amount of garbage they are producing seems outrages.

I wish I had taken a picture of the garbage graph to see when this started, but I don’t think that would even give me a clue, because I haven’t plopped anything special in this city that I haven’t plopped in another city. And the buildings with a query pictures have grown in other cities without producing this amount of garbage.

Probably badly modded lots, you need to find which lots are setup with the erronious garbage production and either modify them with iLives reader/SC4 tool or remove them from your plugins folder.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

I looked up the McCormick Company as in pic one. The original file produced 4 tons garbage / month. The query here says 21584?! Do you have a special query mod installed or something? And the Vuvuzela factory: one pic 84 t, second pic 32767 t?! I have both factorys running, but no problem with them... Are they growable or ploppable? I only use growable...

Kind regards!

The problem is the queries in the screenshots show how much trash has built-up, not how much it generates. The only way to check I know of is to use one of the tools I mentioned before and look at the files in question. If that's not something you can do, I'll take a look if you dig out the links to each download for me.

That;s the thing. I didn't choose to show the query on those lots because they "specifically" have the issue. Most all the buildings in my industrial zone, and a few in my commercial zone had the issue.  The thread would be filled with pics if I posted every building that I checked. Fortunately I didn't save the game subsequent to this starting, with the last save point being when the population was 25,000. After going back to that point, I let the simulation run for a year or two to get the population to the point when this all happened and everything appears normal. Population is at 42,000 and the original amount of garbage collection facilities are doing fine. Also, I haven't changed one plugin. Every building that I queried before the problem is still in my city and/or has grown in my city since then and has not triggered the same problem.

Yeah, both of these lots are in other cities I've established, that's why I'm confused. But like I told  rsc204, other lots have the problem as well. I just chose a few as illustrations, as the thread would have been filled from top to bottom with query shots if I posted every lot with high amounts of garbage.

I do have query mod in my plugins folder. It's the '
Equinox RCI Query Upgrade Mod', but it's been in there for years, and just like the other plugins, have worked fine in cities 10 times this size.

And, all of my RCI plugins are growables. I never plop.

Yes but there is nothing inherently buggy about garbage with the exception of the Maxis landfills, but that would be resolved by the garbage disposal lots you've plopped. So if you've suddenly a huge garbage problem, perhaps not the lots shown, but somewhere there is something producing the garbage. As I said it's hard to track down because of the query only showing the current figures for pilled up garbage.

If you can't track the problem to a specific lot, you'll need to try the binary search method to narrow down the cause.

The other thing that will cough up an inordinate amount of garbage is bulldozing an existing garbage eating custom lot.  This often causes all the garbage the lot has "hidden" to reappear with a vengeance.

Onces the garbage has reached a very high level you'll need to have a lot of lots like a garbage fired power plant to remove it off the streets and get your city clean again.  When this is done you can reduce the lots again. Take a look at your garbage statistics. It'll show you, how much the reduction is after you placed a lot.

    Kind regards!
