Hi I have a computer that is old but I'm looking for a new one just for games like this... Nothing too fancy I don't mind what it looks like I'm just looking for a laptop or a desktop computer that will work with this game. Any links to a computer of any type under $500 that will work with this game? Thanks

I use an HP 355 G2 notebook. I got it as a gift, but I believe it was around $400. It's not the greatest PC, and it's absolutely not made for gaming, but it runs the game perfectly fine. It takes a while for the maps to initially load up, but once it's done, everything runs perfectly smooth. It actually runs better than SC4. If my little office-use laptop can run it, I'm sure you can find a lower tier gaming PC for that price.

If you have a desktop, something with 2 or more cores (& hyperthreading if possible) and a discrete graphics card (anything really, as long as it's compatible and more than $25) should go a long way to making the game smooth. More RAM helps too, but as long as you have at least 4 GB you should be more than fine.

I suspect, if you live in an area with a Costco, that you check them out. They have a lot of very good machines for low prices. Not always something that I would buy, but almost always a good deal that's hard to find even direct from the manufacturer. (I'm just really picky and very specific).

I haven't got the game, but I'm confident that C.O. tried to optimize the game as much as possible to allow lower end devices to run it. It probably won't look as nice, but if it runs well enough and lets you do everything that you need to, who cares, right?

Well yes for $500 you can get a good entry level gaming pc which can run most recent titles with ease.

Different region different price, but for $500 should be able to get something like...

CPU: i3 4XXX (4th gen with hyper threading)
RAM: 8GB (two sticks 4GB), just get the cheapest, lower capacity not recommended
Motherboard: get the cheapest
Chassis : get the cheapest, or re-use your current, or not at all
Power Supply : 450W will be sufficient FROM reputable brands, Seasonic, Enermax, Coolermaster, Corsair...
GPU: AMD R7 265 / Nvidia GTX750TI
HDD: anything, or re-use your current

Pre-build machine usually cost more than building yourself. Get a friend that know-how, or get a shop with technician to work on your selected parts.
Laptop will certainly cost much much much more for the same performance level.

You can get some good sales right now.  Theyu're getting ready to release new chips now that windows 10 is coming out next month.

I just bought this Lenovo ThinkServer with a Xeon quad-core (i5 equivilant) and 4gb RAM for $329.99.  Put a GTX 750 Ti or GTX 650 Ti and another 4GB RAM and for $500 you got a pretty powerful computer.  It is a server grade system too so it should last forever.  Even at $359.99 regular price, you can't go wrong with a quad-core.  Build it yourself would cost more.

It has no operating system, so you need one or borrow one from an old system.  Since this game runs in linux, you can just install Ubuntu or something for free and play this game and a few others now that Steam supports Linux finally.

I even installed OS X on it and it worked fine.  Only issue was sleep, but servers aren't designed to sleep.  They are designed to run 24/7.  I ended up installing win7 pro for a friend who needed to upgrade her old core 2 duo system that puked on her after 8-9 years.  She loves it.

Honestly, as a builder of PC's for over 15 years, I can state with confidence it is no longer cheaper to make your own, hasn't been for years. The sheer cost of components compared to the bulk-buy discounts and deals the big manufacturers get changes this dynamic. You don't think Dell for example pay anything like retail for their parts do you? Computers are commodities like toasters these days, little profit to be made unless you sell in bulk.

Telling you to buy X PC is like telling someone to buy X car, you probably won't listen and buy what works for you anyway, not to mention unless you're in Germany, the same machines are probably not available. Ultimately, have a look on some of the specialist PC gaming websites that do reviews of budget gaming PCs, that's the best source of advice in many ways. You really want 8GB Ram and a proper dedicated graphics card for this sort of money, so don't settle for less.
