Sleet/snow, most of it is melting on the ground then turning to ice

I had to drive to work(thankfully the college closed for the day) in first gear because my street got glazed over, and I had to spray wd40 and hot water in my keyhole to unlock my door. And at work I had to do that again

We have had quite a lot of rain recently, though sadly it has not been cold enough for snow.

Quite cool.  2 cm of snow on the ground.  We had some Westerly freezing rain last night.  Occasional snow, but not enough for even the hardiest snowmobiler or Nordic skiing.

It's been below freezing for the past few nights and only in the low 50 (F) during the days, for the Sacramento Valley (in California), that is quite cold, it's getting so I want to run the hot water before I brush my teeth! I haven't been brave enough to check the lemon and orange trees....

Here at 1300 feet in the foothills on the west side of the Sacramento Valley it's been quite cold...23.7(F) Saturday morning after a high of only 39.7 the previous day! The ice wasn't even melting during the day! There was supposed to be snow all the way down to the valley floor last Thursday too...but the moisture wasn't there . We did get five (very rare) inches last March though...go figure.

Now things are back to normal...lows in the low to mid thirties and highs in the low to mid fifties.

Do I dare check the plants?

The severe winds (as explained in the Current Events forum) here have gone as quickly as they came, today there was nearly no wind at all. The temperature remained cold, though bearable.

I never go out of my room on the weekends. When you dont have a car, nor your friends, not even yur wife with you, there isnt much to do but stay on the computer. So I couldnt really tell you all what the weather is like, but Im guessing it's cold.... cold in Fort Campbell, KY that is.

Feels a lot like winter today (though it hit 14.4ºC yesterday), and just before noon we had some snow, but it didn't lay. Right now (12:16) it's 2.4ºC and sunny, but it was a lot milder earlier before the snow. More wintry weather on the way, apparently!

Cold and windy... and about time too. All the warm weather was making me mad. But now we have snow and the wind is freezing cold from the north. I think it is -15 C right not and MUCH colder when the wind is factored in. Sunny and clear skies by the way... what a beautiful day!

hmm, the winter finaly beugn today, like 4 moths overdue but alas, last hour ive gotten about 7cm of snow here, and there wasnt even a blizzardwarning yesterday, heard nothing about it on the news.

will be hell to get to the buss next week :/

4C right now with mild winds. Something like -3C during the night when I have to work, it's maybe 1-2C in the FedEx sort facility then. Bothering to heat the building is just a waste of money because of the 10 doors which are something like 5m wide and 7-8m tall and always open. Even then I'll still strip down to just a t-shirt when I start moving.

Here in Christchurch New Zealand we were experiencing the 2nd coldest December on record. For every day of sunshine we had, we got about 2-3 days of rain. Now its warming up and each day is between 22-32C and theres lots of sun!

It is cold and overcast, just like it's been for the past week. I've only seen the sun peak out once in this past week, but the rest of the time it's been cold, cloudy, and rainy. Ugh!

For the last week or so, it has been hovering around zero degrees Celsius and gently snowing periodically.  This has accumulated about 30 cm of snow.  Today, when we had to drive into town (20Km) there was periodic snert falling on the highway with blowing snow that could have been whiteouts if there had been enough snow on the ground.  Two hours later, it was warmer and the wind had died.
