Our weather is inspiring some people to show their stupid side.

Last week we had a snow / sleet / freezing rain storm.  My neighborhood was fortunate in that we got mostly sleet and not the freezing rain that brought down the power lines a few miles away.   It was cold enough for the local pond to sort of freeze over.

The key phrase here is "sort of" freeze over.  In this area, it's rarely cold enough for lakes and ponds to freeze solid enough to walk on.  But, of course someone had to try it.

Note to my clueless neighbors:  If the surface of the pond is soft enough to make footprints in, it is probably not safe to walk on the pond.

Granted, this isn't a very deep pond.   But we have already hauled one kid out of it who had to be hospitalized for hypothermia.

Seems as if it's Spring already here, with mild temperatures in the teens (ºC) but also thunderstorms, which are very rare in Winter. Already at 8:25 it's 10ºC/50ºF.

Minneapolis St. Paul is expecting 12-15 inches (30.5 cm - 38 cm) of snow this weekend making it the biggest snowstorm since March 1999 where 16 inches fell. There is a chance that MSP could fall in the range of 15-18 (38 cm - 45.7cm) but too many uncertainties remain.

It is raining today in Haaksbergen, Holland. The temperature is about 10 C. In the summer it can be 30 C.

Minneapolis-St.Paul is preparing for a possibly BIGGER snow storm Wednesday through Friday than this past weekend where 8-14 inches fell in the metro area with 2 feet falling in Winona. Snowfall totals LOOK to be deeper this time around for the metro as mixing should not occur for as long as it did in the last storm. So this could result in another monster storm. My grandmother's place received 13 inches and if the forecasters are right, she could receive another foot making it a total of 25 or more in just one week.

And here I am in England where snowfall depths between these two lines | .........................| could shut the country down. Oh well.

Going between 'showery rain - sunshine - clouds' today, and very quickly as well. Today's forecast high was 16ºC, which is only 1ºC off the record high for this month - 17ºC/63ºF. Temperatures are still getting into double-digits (ºC) during the day, but nighttime can still be pretty chilly.

Right now (17:14) it's 13ºC/55ºF and cloudy.

Spring has arrived today, it was sunny all day and we had a maximum of 16°C (60°F) in the afternoon and it was warm enough to go out in a t-shirt.

Now it's 23:36 in the evening and the temperature has dropped down to currently 6.3°C (43°F).

The next days might become a little colder with 12 to 13°C maximum but still with sun from dawn til dusk.

It's the same here too. Right now we are also under the Influence of upper cold air of the artic regions. So the weather is quite unsettled, and it changes in minutes.

We also had a snowshower one hour ago at a temperature of nearly 7°C (44°F).

Currently it is 6.6°C with 68% humidity and a strong western wind with 7 Bft average.

It snowed a bit by noon, but it didn't settle, but otherwise it was a quite nice sunny but cool day with a maximum of 4°C (40°F).
