A map of a area in Mexico that was requested by a member of Simtropolis who was happy for me to share with you.

Tried to stick to the actual map as closely as I could (though had to add a river that doesn't actually exist as CSL requires a running body of water to actually make the map usable)

As for the actual area it has the Route 190 (well ok, most of it) and the Route 190D as well as a couple of other smaller roads based on the winding roads in the area.

As for resources it has a bit of Oil, a fair amount of Ore, loads of fertile ground and a huge covering in trees (as per the requester's specifications. Plus the actual area looks pretty heavy on the trees side).

Another very cool looking map! If I was a teacher, I would give you an A+++ for this map!

James....just tried to play your Canon City, CO map....is there a particular reason all the highways are made of exit ramps?

wallacet: To show where the roads are in real life. They were mainly just there as guides as you can only have highways and offramps in the map editor. I always assumed that they would just be replaced with normal roads if others wanted the same layout.

As for the Mexico one, they were only meant to be small roads anyway so I didn't think the off ramp connections would matter too much. I think i may just make everything highways in the future though.

Well, I spent about an hour yesterday turning all the exit ramp roads into highways and adding interchanges. (I also expanded the green zone slightly and added more fertile land, since in real life most of that green space next to the river would be used for farms). I have saved the file for my personal use, but I could send it to you if you wanted to re-release the map with highways instead of exit ramps. Just let me know! :)

First up a big sorry for taking so long with this map and getting back to you guys. Life has been rather hectic over the last few month but hopefully it'll clam down a bit now so I can get back to playing C:SL and making maps for you guys!

wallacet: Thanks but that's ok, Glad you enjoyed even though you had to edit stuff yourself!

Drosovilla: Thanks but I don't understand what you asking for sorry? Do you mean that you wan't me to make you a save file with the city already built? This is only for blank map requests sorry. If your asking me to make you the actual map of the area then sure but it'll be blank without the city on it.

A map of a area in Mexico that was requested by a member of Simtropolis who was happy for me to share with you.

A small Island (the area of the island is almost completely buildable on with the 25 tiles unlock mod) with a large extinct volcano in the centre. Several fresh water springs flow from the old crater and as you would expect from a volcano island the area is extremely fertile with a bit of ore and oil.

Transport wise you can put ports and harbours pretty much anywhere around the island edge and there is a ring road running around it. There isn't however, any railway connections as Puissi didn't specify that he needed one so if you need it then you will have to add your own sorry before starting the map.

Anyway here's the two links as per usual and I hope you all enjoy it!

    Wow, this is amazing!

    Map name: Real world #?
Map Type: Euro? Temperate, if not.
Terrain type: This is Mid-North Coast Australia, so the basic principal is ocean in front, mountains out back, fertile land downriver, forest upriver.
    Needed Connections: All
How many connections: At least one highway (yellow) and rail (black).Sea connection primarily up the coast, but it would be nice to have river access too. Air connections in a North/South direction.
    % of usable land: 70-80%
Needed resources: A good deal of forest and fertile land, with deposits of ore around the riverbed and oil out west in the mountains.
Other details: I've been dying to build a city on this very terrain for years and years. I even hand crafted it myself on SC4 tile by tile back in the day. Suffice to say, I believe you'll do a much better job than I did. :D

    You can definately release it.

Chesh: Yup I'll add that to the WIP maps as Drosovila hasn't got back to me yet.

I've looked at the terrain party files and to do that exact area I cant get the coast and the highway in the buildable 25 tiles. Would you prefer me to make the highway up or move slightly north to Macksville or Nambucca Heads.

    Hi James.

I was hoping you'd be able to make this sort of map.

    See image below.

    The black lines are highways.

    The brown lines are rail.

Dark Green is mountainous. + ore/oil

Light green is flat plains. + forest by mountains, arable by water.

Please could the island be all within the building area, so feel free to make more of the map sea if necessary.

    VVT1jxZ.png

    Map name: Mikenstein
    Map Type: European
Terrain type: Islands + Plains + Valleys
    Needed Connections: Road Highways Rail
Rough % of usuable land: 70%
Needed resources: Forest + Arable = Plenty. Others = Not really fussed.
    Release type: Public

if you could scale it down a bit, just getting the shape of the coast around south west rocks and hopefully as far west as kempsey, that would be fantastic. please though, use your own discretion and feel free to make things up if need be. a vague resemblance will be fine - game playability is just as important.

i'm so excited and I can't thank you enough!

Just a quick update. I've got a little way through the map so far. Basically due to time restraints I've used Terrain Party to give me the basic outline of the area around SW Rocks and then hand drawn in most of the rivers (this is awesome fun I love adding rivers and delta type areas so good place choice!). Unfortunately it doesn't stretch quite as far as Kempsey but I'm modifying it a bit to make it easier to build on the land but with all the interesting local features (Shark Island, the salt lake etc).

Will aim to have it done by Thursday/Friday but I have a rather busy work schedule this week so it may be a bit later sorry.

    Cheers

    South West Rock, Australia

A map of a area in Australia that was requested by Chesh who was happy for me to share with you.

Now unfourtunately, as I said I went with a scale map of the area rather than shrinking it as it allowed me to get the basic data off of terrain party. I hope this is ok for you Chesh.

Also a apology for how long it took to get this map done. I've just had a 12 day week at work and was a bit knackered so work was slow. Sorry about that, but I hope it was wortht he wait!

Tried to stick to the actual map as closely as I could though a couple of the smaller rivers and waterways are missing. As for the roads and the rail I just made them up completely as the area didn't have any main roads or rail. I have however done away with my on and off ramp roads so that's probably a plus.

As for resources it has a bit of Oil, a fair amount of Ore, loads of fertile ground and a huge covering in trees. Unfourtunately I've used a bit of artistic liscence here but it should be playable.

This is the map that Michea95l requested

    European Biome.

Pretty much exactly as he laid out in the basic plan he gave me with a couple of terrain modifications.

Has all connections (and none of my questionable highway ramp roads either) as well as all the resources laid out as he requested.

    Hello James!

Loving using your maps! So I decided to make a request :P

    Map name: Yuraygir
Map Type: Temperate (it's an Australian region... and even though I like the European themes, Temperate it is :P )
Terrain type: Beach (coast), Headlands, lake, "broadwater", River, forest
Needed Connections: Is it possible to have one of the simple two lane roads (i.e. 1 lane each way)?  Otherwise single highway running north south. With Maclean connection for Brooms Head and on the southern side of the Harwood Bridge
Rough % of usable land: As much as possible whilst keeping the map realistic as possible.
Needed resources: Tons and tons of bush :P (forest), not so much farming.  Ore and oil not really realistic (AFAIK!) so you're welcome to add it if you wish.
    Release type: Public

Best to use this link, as I couldn't quite the zoom level I desired to show what I wanted. :P

Sorry fig_aro I've only just seen your request. Will make a start on it it after I've finished the one I'm currently making for myself.

I'm afraid that the one single lane roads aren't possible in map editor so it'll have to be a highway.

Also looking at Terrain Party (which is where I get the base files for my real maps) I wont be able to get the coast and the island in the map. Did you wnat me to scale it down a bit for you or do you want to take a look at the Terrain Prty site and choose the site yourself?

    here's the link: http://terrain.party/

Seems like this stretch of coast is a pretty popular place as well as the second to last map I made was the South West Rocks.

    Cheers

    James

You can use highway ramps in the map editor. That's also an interesting challenge for the player because of the limited capacity. I made a map with one highway that is 3 tiles away from the starting tile, and smaller highway ramp roads leading to different parts of the map.

Thats true but I've got flak in the past for doing this on my maps so I was just a bit worried about that.

Plus, if he wants to make a large city a single lane highway would be horrendous as it grows.

The challenge is to unlock map tiles to get access to the main highway ;)

Ah I see what you mean. I read it wrong initially lol and thoguht you meant to tmake all the highways in the map out of single lane highways.

If you wouldn't mind, scaling down would be the better option.

It honestly wouldn't be the biggest of cities for two reasons - 1) I tend to make small cities/scenic cities.  I like the challenge of it rather than HAVING ALL THE POPULATION.  2)  I visit this section of coast (Brooms Head) every year around Christmas/New Years time.  Brooms Head itself is nothing much more than a caravan park.  Your own style of highway would be best.  Alot of the Pacific Highway in this particular region is one lane each way, with some stretches of dual carriageway.

So long as Brooms Head is in the map, I'm a happy man :)

Total IRL population of the region in my Google Maps clipping would be lucky to hit 10-15000

    Cheers,
    Sam.
