Therewe go, I haven't finished the whole area yet but the palace in intself is more or less done. I turned off the random tree rotation mod to be able to use the square trees as edges and I was planning on turning it back on for the rest but I forgot that the mod applies to all the trees so I stayed without it... The new zonable pedestrian paths, the prop line tool and the surface painter are amazing and I've used them extensively. The palace is very much inspired by those of Versailles and Charlottenburg, which is the the asset after all.

I'm happy to have been able to almost only use real vegetation, the only very noticeable problem with the LODs are the hedges from the centre garden, which tend to disappear from some distance.

Oh wow, that looks stunning (and a lot of work)!
A tip: if you still want to randomize the position of some trees, simply use the terraform tool on that area (like level the terrain with a tiny brush - shouldn't be noticeable if the terrain is already level) while the mod is enabled - that will rotate the trees in the area affected.

Thank you very much!

Does your tip also work with the mod disabled? Because it is currently disabled due to the fact that if I activate it it applies to the whole savefile and messes up the hedges I already placed... In all cases, thanks!

Here's a section of New Holland's downtown area - in typical American fashion I've failed to make something hospitable of the waterfront area (bottom) and separated it from the rest of downtown with a busy highway/road  :P

@Judazzz if you dont mind me asking what graphical mods do you have to make it look like that because the fidelity and lighting on that is superb

As far as I know it doesn't: it's the tree rotation mod that gets triggered by terraform actions, so it has to be activated.

@Vertecs - the LUT I use is Natural Color, I set Dynamic Resolution to 200% and enabled the LOD Toggler, and also use Ambient Occlusion for more contrasting shadows as well as Softer Shadows. Besides that I played with some settings of Ultimate Eyecandy to change the position of the sun and the intensity of ambient and sun light (I saved those settings as a preset, so this is basically the default visuals I play with).

@Judazzz do you use a texture mod? those textures look so crisp especially the grass

It's a custom set I made for my city, enjoy! I use it with the Terrain texture Replacer mod, but feel free to create a map theme with them :thumb:

I went a little bit crazy with the tree-brush. Therefore I've maxed out on the tree limit (I have downloaded the unlimited trees mod but didn't use it until now. Honestly I didn't expect hitting the limit on trees, didn't even know it was only 262.000 :ooh:). You can see the result of my tree-adventure below.

I recognize those house assets (they're Dutch), but where'd you get the additions?

Development of the riverside green-way. Not quite as populated by bikes yet but most people commuting from these adjacent areas would be wise to take advantage of a cool, shady, relaxing cycle ride to work. Inspired partly by the New York High Line (amongst some other greenways though it's harder to decorate it with niceties), aims to provide a non-disruptive way to work. Second image is as it crosses underneath the Adonia line with on/off ramps to street level.

That's a great looking downtown @Judazzz, as usual. I'm always impressed with your builds. I'd hate to park in that parking lot in the bottom right part of the picture though. :P

What is that tall building beside the Chirpigroup Center?

Also, what's that small white building in the mid-ground with the red stripe through the center?

Sorry I'm always asking 'what's this building?' and 'what's that building?' after every picture you post.

Thanks! That parking space is indeed a bit... well.... adventurous :D

That tall building is Figueroa at Wilshire form L.A. (1:1.5 scale version) - there's also a 1:1 version, but that one wouldn't scale too well in my city (which already is an eclectic mix of 1:1 and buildings at a smaller scale). The other building you wondered about is Home Hardware (he has more good-looking North American LC assets, btw.)
Oh, and don't worry about asking about what assets I use - it's a small effort to look it up :)

Thanks. Now that I see Figueroa on the workshop I remember seeing it before and passing due to the file size. It looks really nice, but 10 megs is a bit steep for me for a single building, even one as nice as that one. Though I'm more interested in original buildings than real-world copies, but regardless.

That Home Hardware looks pretty nice, and wow, that file size.

Thanks again, and great build.

I love your style, very Asian for some reason. Is that an asset theme?

Some screenshots of Midtown

Wow....you truly got your visuals to a superb state. Those pics are pretty photo-real (the awesome city layout also helps tremendously....that's why I'm hesitant to show the rest of my city :) ) . Please share your settings. That's the look I'm aiming for. 8)

Thanks man :)
The LUT is Natural Color, the textures can be found here, Softer Shadows, Ambient Occlusion (does cause artifacts, unfortunately), and the rest is pretty much done with Ultimate Eyecandy (tonemapping disabled, weather enabled [sky looks better without the fluffy clouds, imo.], ambient settings tweaked to emulate the saturated colors and long shadows of morning light), and a temperate map. Because it's so popular I guess it's useful to mention that I do not use Classic Daylight.

Oh, and please don't be hesitant, and do show more of your city. Mine wouldn't have been possible without your awesome custom assets (something I wouldn't be able to create even if mankind's survival depended on it :D ), so I guess we all have our specialties.
