What a beaut!

Love the art direction they took with this game. Perfect balance of bright, colourful and fun while being realistic at the same time.

Yet more amazing pictures!

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

Is it strange that I own the game, yet I'm still desperately checking this CJ for updates? haha

This all look very promising...excellent narration btw lol! Love that you have a little story behind it.

I not overly found of the buildings, being so used to very detailed ones (like Mattb325 for exemple), but the overall game looks very interesting to play.

Thank you for creating this cj! Looking forward to future updates!

@copper121212: Thank you! Agreed, there is "something" that makes the buildings look realistic without (and this is the difficult part) losing this SC flair we have seen since SC3K.

@Ln X: Thank you for commenting!

@Azurespecter: Be desesperate no more! Here's the daily update! Thanks for your support, it is important knowing that it comes from a staff member!

@iviaarten: I'm sure the guys here will do some quite amazing stuff on this section!

    @timmie: Thanks! Here's more!

@JP Schriefer: Only one day more, resist!

@Mymyjp: I'm sure that these small "flaws" like the one you're pointing will be solved in the next months by the BATters. I'm happy to see that the whole game is open for modding and knowing what this community is capable of, it's going to be amazing.

Yesterday's topic, new challenges coming with growth, keeps being the puzzle that we try to solve everyday at the town hall (you know, my garage). Each new resident of Springsteen means one more place taken at a school, or one more bed required at the local clinic... and one house which is more nearer to the mighty smokestacks that appeared on our industrial areas.

    67a4c196e1d01f19653ce4ca861a6cea.png

The Admiral Inc factory keeps being a big jobs provider for the city, and people have adopted its smokestack as a local symbol. Its placement, almost next to the brand new Main Square, helped a lot to make people "love" the factory.

Brand new residential developments are needed in order to face the growing demands. The downside is that, each time, zones are closer to the existing industrial and polluted areas.

    081ada7ca46c0fbf083d35be7a8c813a.png

This ring develops in almost no time. It has it all, it is next to the factories without being close to the factories. But sooner or later, houses will be built nearer, and then problems will begin. On the meantime, we reserved one of this ring's lots for ourselves, because we needed to build...

    b920b81f9a710af6db5b1df0f5621ebb.png

Our very first and cozy high school! Primary and high schools, we are ready to stop being a town full of fools! We were celebrating and sipping some champagne, when we heard the firefighters sirens far away. It was really uncommon to hear them in this town where nothing ever happens, so it could only mean one thing...

    63bb356f39c891878f3d873a903ac45b.png

FIRE! We all ran by foot to this burning industrial building, we could check first hand that there were no casualties. The firefighers were very fast on putting the flames out and minimising the damages. The firefighers and us, the town council, spoke with the workers first hand. Nobody knew what happened. We decided to take them to the new town park, not really too far from there, a quiet place to calm somebody down.

    513d0ff887ce7c25c616c8e21477c45d.png

The smooth wind moved the trees leaves. The smokestacks appeared from time to time behind the trees.

    0f4f955b65ee69af8fbf416ee4c28648.png

The smokestacks will keep appearing as a background of our pictures, a background of our memories in Springsteen. In the future, long after the factories are gone, the smokestacks will remain as a silent testimony of Springsteen's early history. The city will be very different, I guess; but I hope the smokestacks will keep there.

That last picture looked really good. Can you plop park items next to footpaths?

The whole thing you see, trees + paths is a prefabricated park coming on the parks menu. You can also design them by yourself by plopping trees manually (you have around 8 different trees to choose) and drawing the paths by hand (2 different park textures). I don't recall what happens with the small plazas with benches, though.

It comes out March 10th.. tomorrow. Well at least tomorrow for me. You can buy it digitally from Steam or the Paradox website. Alternatively I hear it's also being sold as a boxed game, like as a physical CD. Feels strange to say that but apparently it's true. You could probably buy it in stores where video games are sold.

Cities: Skylines seems to have some great things to offer.  Still can't stand the highway stubs on the border...really hope they modify this and allow you to just build your own world.

I notice the lots blend perfectly with the sidewalks and roads.  And the fact that trees move in the wind is cool.

I probably should pick up this game right away and start my transition, but I won't...I should save money...but maybe when C:S is the SC4 of the community I will pick it up along with all the mods and be a $%&^! years into the experiment, haha.

Great start and look at this game.

Very nice entry..and if you say it is going to be beautiful in the future (buildings and such), then I trust you 100%

I love the layout of your city and adore your last picture...

The one thing I find a bit hard right now is the pace of the game; even on slow, there is an obsene amount of things that goes on at once..lol..Not sure if you felt it too as your city is growing..

Unless I am wrong, I do not believe we can plop parks next to a path..it has to be a road. Love the idea to create a square area just for those like you did in this journal. Thanks for the idea.

Great job! Looking forward to more entries!

Lovely little industrial area you've got going on there.

Pity about the fire but you can't make a omelet without breaking a few eggs and all.

@Paulobergonci: Glad you liked it! Thanks for commenting!

@Ln X: Thank you very much! I answered you on the quoted post ;)

@Benedict: Thanks! I think that, unlike it happened with SC2013, there are still plenty of good hours of play to come with CSL.

    @city89: Available right now!

@Superbacon: I hope it is released as a boxed game, I'm not a big fan of anything cloud-related.

@packersfan: Yeah, you're spot on. I'm not liking this "you're only allowed to start the city here, next to the highway ramp", but as said several times already, the modders are already working on it ;)

@Mymyjp: Totally agree on that. The gameplay is way slower than SC4's. Even the fastest CSL game speed is, as far as I experienced, a bit slower than the "rhino" speed of SC4. Furthermore, the city population growth is muuuuuuch slower but the city size is muuuuuuch larger. Therefore, a lot of stuff happen; you don't get bored even if you run a 30k residents city.

@89James89: Fires are there to remind you to place some fire stations :D

There is not a day I wake up and don't find something new in Springfield. In a few weeks, these two buildings "inaugurated" our brand new commercial axis.

    06b23c3469263a3b30addfe0ca6394b8.png

Midrises! The first ones in Springsteen! One more step to become a great city! Taking advantage of this situation, we began a large campaign of "commercialization" of this road, and we zoned lots of commercial zones. The construction of these midrises had something to do with the inminent urbanization of "the other side". We were, for the first time, settling at the other side of the river.

    6ea79fdb64f931a3e6fbd2f49ffe3bd7.png

The development was quite fast, faster than expected; and it all began around a brand new cemetery.

    e24354605f30810b2192480e90c82f0f.png

The neighborhood that developed around the cemetery, at the other side of the river, was developed to be a quiet and nice district. I think we achieved this aim.

    569e4bda97c684d51b921e3bfd278381.png

This new district was a total success, and The Bridge couldn't handle so much traffic. We needed an upgrade soon, as the situation was growing more and more difficult everyday. Luckily, the works were fast, and soon we enjoyed a new Bridge.

    73c384b9fc5b2e93517ebb28e248df80.png

The Bridge soon became a local landmark, photographed by the tourists.

    e79118ca998ccdcafc430da28dd5e9c0.png

The traffic relief brought, at the same time, higher land value and more favorable conditions for commercial development. In turn, we got even more midrises...

    0e42222f173c1dd96840587a87f9e17b.png

Our small Springsteen is on the rise! Is on the midrise!

Actually, my job with Springsteen "finished" when the game was released. The aim of the CJ, with the early access, was to create excitement and show a little bit the tools the game provided.

I keep playing a lot, although I have abandoned Springsteen. It just wasn't growing the way I wanted. My second city has just built the Space Elevator (without mods), I feel really comfortable with it, and I hope I will be showcasing it soon.

Thanks for the support, Azurespecter, and some massive CONGRATULATIONS for creating that revolution which is Cities: Skylines!

Well done, your CJ was the first number one on Ben's Top Ten for Cities: Skylines!!

Thanks! Although there wasn't much competition when I started it... (actually, there was no competition ;) It should be me who congratulated you for compiling one more CJ list!
