Hey! So I recently started a new region and installed NAM 32 (I uninstalled my NAM 31 so I could have a fresh install). After starting up cities in the new region I began to notice the ugly "no briefcase sign" and abandoned buildings. This is extremely uncommon for me. I began to try to install a bus network to see if it could alleviate some of the commute time but it unfortunately did not. I also made sure that there were enough jobs spread out throughout the city. For example in the city I am going to show you, there are around 40,000 residents with 60,000 commercial jobs and 10,000 industrial jobs. Any idea what could be the issue? Could it be an error with CAM? Thanks  :)

Might simply be a matter of time.  How long have you allowed the city to run?

If you want to see if these zots will reappear try eating them with CTRL+xtastyzotsCTRL+m.  tastyzots eats all current zots and if they reappear it confirms the problem.  The pathfinder is not instantaneous, but tuns about every three Sim-months.

It did reappear actually. I zoned a new community and they all became zots as well.

In that case, check your city's balance of Sims.  For CAM the Sims:Jobs ratio should be 1:1.  Without CAM is should be 2:1.  The easiest way to do this is when you first click the city to open it and the counts appear on the dialogue.

You may want to ask about this on SC4Devotion. That website has more info about the CAM, since it's associated file exchange, the LEX, is where you download it. And I think there's more people there that are familiar with that mod. As for me, I haven't used the CAM (don't see what I'm missing out on), so I don't know squat-diddly about it.

The amount of jobs that you have compared to residents, though, shows that you may have the "workforce doubling bug" in the CAM. This thread on SC4Devotion can provide you with info on how to fix this bug.

Actually, as Compdude787 mentioned, the CAM Sims:Jobs ratio should be 1:2. The workforce doubling bug is a culprit for this, and it is unwanted behavior that should be eliminated as soon as possible.

Interesting.  I thought that was deliberate and that they were interested in creating DINK families.

No. The intent of the CAM is to provide a more balanced simulation by spreading out the growth stages more evenly, not make a very specific, skewed RCI model.

The whole problem, of course, is that so many installations of the CAM are faulty (including mine), that the byproduct has been mistaken for intent.

As a note, z1 once made a fix for the CAM Workforce Bug that doesn't require the intricate steps involving the Simcity dat files.

    It's found here:

I found the patch z put out. It seems I can't use this patch on my old cities with the problem. Thanks for your help though!  :)

Well, you can, but it will cause a brief economic downturn in your cities as things are balancing out. If you really don't want to give up on your current region, then you can keep playing on it afterwards. Just let the game run in each city while the economy goes down the toilet and eventually it will recover.
