Don't know whether these guys are some kind of heroes flying that mission or were just doing their job.  I don't think any of them except Paul Tibbets really knew what was going to happen.  Tibbets had a lot of PTSD trouble later on.

Comedy legend Robin Williams has been found dead of an apparent suicide at his home.  His death appears to be by asphyxiation.  Williams has reportely been battling severe depression.

Very sad news, indeed! Many fine actors good at comedies, struggles with serious roles, but Williams could switch from being hillarious, to express the more serious, sensitive roles and switch back again. Williams helped so many to feel better, sadly he could'nt help him self. An actor that surely  will be missed...

To me, the saddest part of Robin's death will be the outcry that people suffering from depression suddenly need 'help' so that society can avoid this sort of tragedy in the future.

It's as though all of the people before him that suffered from depression, and ultimately took their own lives, didn't exist (or were, somehow, inconsequential or less important).

Just because Robin was in the public eye does not make his death more important than any other.

 

It's sad that he wasn't able to find the comfort and balance he apparently so desperatly needed.

I suspect that he had undiagnosed, or not successfully treated, manic-depression.  I believe it is called bi-polar disorder these days.

 

People can channel the manic phases into their work.   (Robin did act manic at times but it was funny manic.)   Unfortunately, depression can not be channeled successfully.  

 

There are medicines to treat this problem but people often refuse to take them, citing the side effects.  They often chose to self medicated with drugs and alcohol instead.    (He was very forthcoming about his drug and alcohol problems.)

 

Just a theory but I think it makes sense.  If we find out that he was non-compliant with prescribed medicine, it will not surprise me.
