Great terraforming and some outstanding layouts! I love both of the ferries - the sunken one as well as the ferry island. Also that covered bridge and the placement of Kwakelaar's great Schiffenberg monastery - Wow! Looks like there is no other place that cold fit better!

I love that windmill - where did you get it?

Wow, amazing pictures metasmurf. That ferry terminal on the water is so original. Also your setting. Industrial, residential development and the small shops, perfectly layed out. And everything fits in this natural environment.

Can't wait for your next update.

    Thanks Phil :D

So this will be a smaller update, but it will give you some idea of how the city develops on the other coastal line.

    Update 5- Lets get European

This thing took time to do, since it's growable residentials 22.gif

    Very interesting indeed...

Did you plop the Arcadia commercial buildings, shown in the second picture, to make them appear in the form of a perfect square with courtyard and a fountain at the center?

Thanks for your comments sloppet 44.gif

dimostenis: Since the row buildings are growables, i used the tileset mod to get rid of all in game buildings, then i puted the game on highest speed and bulldozed until i got the right kind of buildings. Finally i made everything historical. Takes alot of time but the result makes it pay off :D The inneryard is a plaza, located here: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=996

I used the same technique to create the rows in the first picture, since they're also growables.

Great work with these growable Residentials! I know by myself how ddifficult it is to get such a unistyle residentials - because of this I am glad when some streets get unistyle (except for some that grow like mushrooms after a warm rain) ...

This all looks very good. I especially like the ferry island, although I'm not sure its all that realistic its a beautiful touch. The town also looks very nice, although I wonder how you got the uniform c$ shops like that all in a line. Did you plop them, or did you hit the historic button really fast?

    Nice job.

Growable resdentials? Great job, metasmurf. Looks like it was worth the time because it turned out really nice. I like the courtyard within the blocks, also within the Mediterranean commercial ones.

I like the picture with the fishermen's village, particularly the church, the parking lots that divide the lanes and the natural look in general.

This City Journal is extremely nice. There are some really great ones out there that no one has really noticed yet, and this is one of them. I forsee it growing to be many, many, many more pages. 10.gif

Just on a side note, Andreas Roth didn't BAT those apartments, he just packages and uploads all stuff under the SFBT logo, pretty much like Equinox used to do for NDEX (although Andreas also has some lots and automata skins which he both made and uploaded). The BATter of these apartments calls himself Ch.P., and I sure hope he will get around to finishing some more variations of those prefab buildings that he's working on. 1.gif

Ah thanks for the comments everyone

I wasn't happy with the terraforming of the region, i was going to terraform one city after another, but that got impossible. So...

    destruction1jy.jpg

I'm working on a new regional terraforming now as we speak, a picture of the region will be up shortly. I didn't want to start a new thread since i allready have visitors in this one and i didn't want to pick another name of the region. Cya soon 1.gif

This is the new terrain. It's actually a map made by silverking82 ( can be found here https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=5488 ) wich illustrates the island of Sicilia. I made it smaller and did some other modifications. I will fix some of the mountains while playing the region aswell as adding a few rivers here and there. This region will have nothing to do with the real Sicillia so it's not supposed to be some kind of recreation, i just took this because i thought it was a nice map and i wanted an island. I was going to do the whole terraforming myself but it simply took to much time and energy to do it. I will probably have an update tommorow allready 1.gif

The new terrain looks great. How many city tiles are on it? That picture without any frame of reference makes it look so small, but I'm sure that's not the case.

The dead volcano on the southeast corner really is a nice touch. Was that one of your modifications?

Thanks zelgadis and jacqulina 1.gif But actually i plan to remove that vulcano and make a mountain area in later updates. Well me and pjot (actually he did most of the work) have been working on some swedish roadsigns. So if you're from Sweden you should recognize them. There's still some issues with the nightlightning, hopefully it will get solved. here's a preview:

    skylt9xe.jpg

Oh, and here's a pic of the first industrial development in the region, stay tuned for more 1.gif

Nice restart! I like the layout of the industrial zone and those seawalls ~ have not seen those before ~ they look really nice there. The only thing I would do is doze 2 of the MPR metal duplicates and make historical the other and so on  (I use a money park as my main cheat so cost is not an issue).

This region looks like its going to a good one! I will be watching its development. 44.gif

Hey metasmurf. I liked your 'old' region, so I don't see exactly why you didn't continue that one. But I do like your new region (the island) a lot. It looks really great.

Also great job with the highway signs. They look very nice. And I can imagine that they do not only fit into Swedish areas but European ones in general. And the highway built on water looks amazing. I wonder how you did that.

    Keep it up.
