rockford,
do not put these in your plugin folder! These are the models for the people who may make these into the puzzle pieces.

no telling when they will be complete. I don't know how much work it is to path these things. Just check back every now and then. I'm sure we will make alot of noise if we do get these done. Then who knows...maybe more pieces...

I think for the next Simcity, Maxis needs to allow us to build roads on a lane by lane basis.  You can have the following tools: street lane, road lane, avenue lane, ground highway lane (no siding), ground highway lane (with guardrail), ground highway lane (with noise barriers), elevated highway lane, etc.  You can start with a single lane that is one- directional; if you want two directions, drag a lane in the opposite direction.  As you build your lanes, the sidewalks move outward, medians get built, etc.  This will give you ultimate control of your streets.

This would also give you complete control over your interchanges rather than selecting from a set of pre-made interchanges.  You will have control of the placement of the ramps, how many lanes exit, where the lanes go, etc.  It would require a more sophisticated method of road building (curve roundness, lane elevation, etc.) but it would make things a helluva lot more fun in my opinion.

I agree. I think SC4 has micromanagement in all the wrong places - I really don't care about having to check and set funding for power, school, and health all the time. I'd much rather micromanage traffic.. traffic and zoning/landscaping are really my favorite aspects of SC4.

Exactly.  And in the same breath, how about allowing us to select which neighborhoods (or sections of the grid) a school/hospital, etc, services instead of putting an unrealistic radius.  As needs change, we can add more grid or take away grid from our selection.  Anyway, I'm getting off topic.  Roads are one of the most important things in any city... and one of the most space consuming.  I didn't even realize how much space they take up until I was looking at a scale map and saw how the highway width could fit about 8-10 houses.  Take that width and spread it across 20 miles and think about how much room that is.  They look so thin and streamline on maps because they go such long distances that we forget how much room they should actually take up on our city maps.  Those 6 lane highways (3 on each side) currently in the game should probably be taking up 3 squares already... (notice how the highway lanes are thinner than the road lanes).  I'm thinking there's a 2 to 1 ratio between lanes and grid squares.  For the next Simcity, Maxis would probably need to use a higher resolution grid and bigger maps.  a 12 lane highway would be 6 grids wide... which is actually realistic.

Funny how I keep saying Maxis... it's EA now.

This project seems to be a good idea but what is the current demand for it? Personally, a 4 lane freeway might be more worthwhile with a filter lane coming off onto a sliproad when the freeway needs to only be 3 lane's wide.

Does anyone need a diagram?

The fact of the matter is that a 6 laned highway would properly facilitate 4 tiles across and the fact that the 6 lane highway is 2 tiles per side means that it could effctively hold up to 2x the normal highway traffic.

Lets get back on topic now. And lets not speak of Anthony270 again.

I would love to have 6 lane highways. It would be cool if this project and the RHW project were combined! That would be sweet!

i don't know why he was banned but i assume it was bad
anyhow i think it would be great to have a 4 lane highway at
least it would make things more realistic, 6 lanes is realistic
in some areas so that wouldn't be bad ether well which ever
it don't matter to me.
