If I may, I would like to contribute with something too...

First, it is definitely a fact that we are gonna have some troubles when trying to scale the roads, which is why we have so many ideas going on. To me, after several attempts, have found that the bes way to go is:

1st, 2nd, and 3rd ave are 2 tiles wide (owr 5).. Then you have Lexington and Madison, both 1 tile wide.. Park avenue is 3 tiles.. 5th is one tile.. And then 6,7,8,9,10,11, and 12 (at some points.. Depends on what part :P) are 2 tiles... Broadway now has a pedestrian lane, so it would be fine to do it a one tile avenue...

For the horizontal avenues.. I find that 14, 23, 34, 42, and 57 are fine one tile wide.. For the rest I should check my current layout and tell you..

I'm working on the tutorial thing.. So I might give you the correct numbers in some days.. Or you can check them in the thread

I agree with you, so I say you should reach standards, by which I mean to see that suits us more streets, one tile, or 2 tiles. could do a vote among all that sound?

My view would be better than 1 tile streets, but you can think ;)

You're right... I need to check those numbers, I have no idea why I assumed that every Avenue should be two tiles wide :)

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

After your post I went back to google earth and measured again, and while I didn't measure every street, I can say that, 5th Ave, Madison, and Lexington are all five lanes and 24-26 meters wide.  Since game tiles are 16 meters wide it's really up to you to decide whether to scale up to 2 tiles or down to 1, but since they're 5 lanes, and OWR5 is 2 tiles wide, that's what I went with.

5 lane OWRs are 2 tiles wide when placed, but they actually take up more like 1.5 as I've found. If you look, you can actually get buildings next to the road, so it does scale nicely. Hard to describe, but I hope that makes sense.

If you are properly scaling NY, then some Maxis NYC Buildings will have to be redone. Lincoln Center is not scaled correctly at all for example.

if we do makes us the 2 lane big map, and not cave potion us across the island, and measured and had to climb a long dark field

and also all the bat that are made in streets are designed as 1 tile thought, as we know four tiles equibalen a street ny :)

TheBonobo4: I am using Lowkee33's Appalachian Terrain Modd . I also have xannepan's Poseidon Mod.

edwardjeria: The map is quite bigger. It features New York city Metro area. I have cropped the picture I got from Region Census view. The map I'm using is Izidor44 But I have moved city tiles a bit to get the boundaries where I felt they'd fit the best.

Aaron: I was looking into p[lacing it, I have no idea how I missed it! Maybe I just didn't save after I've placed it :O

Fair enough. I was using Izidor's map, but have taken a hiatus after cmdp encountered a few problems with our recreation. I'm using Drunkapple's Cold Steel Water mod, and no terrain mods.

Yeah. I was basically avoiding anything that could be difficult, like Broadway, and South of 14th Street where the grid just ends.

Well I have a map of my previous version that looks really good. The reason why started over is because I encountered some problems with the map as mentioned above. But I could probably post a picture of it later..

Not sure if this should go here or in the new thread, Anyway, anyone know how to fix this problem? The loop curve (which in my opinion looks amazing), should go from left to right, but if you look in these pictures, it doesn't.

    An overview:

And a closer look at the problem:

I'm pretty sure I tried all that. It was hard to get it right, and it's perfect (I measured it, the "peak" of the curve is at ( 7,8 ) from the start at Avenue A, like it should be, so it's basically a perfect parabola almost. Which is handy.
