High demand. High density skyscraper not growing.

Hi. I got a demand mod and after installing it I see in the menu, demand for all kinds (residential, commercial, industrial) is super high up to the top! But when I zone high density for my CBD I can't see any high rises growing. Instead low density buildings are popping up like mushrooms after the rain!  What causes them to grow on high density zones? Why are skyscrapers not growing there? How can I make them to grow there? Additional details: high mayor rating, good environment and plenty of schools, hospitals, power and water in every zone.

Demand mods don't do anything about the stage of the game.  To get large commercial buildings without CAM you have to be at stage 7 or 8.  Much higher than that if you have CAM.  Your population in default mode has to be around 80,000 with a high EQ, good environment, and services.  Demand mods just skew the game rather badly.  I'd take it out if you thought that's what it does, because you don't understand it.

Don't forget too, besides the stages, if it's Commercial zoning, there has to be traffic and the land value (desirability) has to be high enough.

From my experience, scrapers don't usually grow right away even if all the conditions are there. It's usually some kind of smaller building that will upgrade at some point.

If you bombard the lot with MMPs and plazas around the lot, it'll usually spawn larger buildings.

This is the most detailed post that I have found explaining stage limits and the population numbers needed to achieve each stage.  Keep in mind that even when you reach the requited stage, there is still only a small percentage that you will be able to build the higher stage buildings.

Pincushion cities are a passing fancy.  You'll become bored with them after a while.

Umh... I might have forked out of the original question. Heavy demand does not help if desirebility factors are low Plop favored lots (parks for R, plazas for C) within 20 squares of your buildings. You should see your lots upgrading soon.

Edit: I originally wrote a longer post, but cut it to what we see above. I forgot to remove the first sentence of this section. I would just remove it, but I dislike cleaning already published posts like that.
