I would like the coverage circles for education buildings to be a different color from each other.  I have great difficulty telling them apart, and it frustrates me endlessly.

is there a mod that can make pedestrians walk over plazas en parks. ow en is there a mod where pedestrians can walk longer and also needs to go to stores instead only to work.....?

Hi everybody!

I have one request and I'm not sure where to post it, so I'll give it a try here. Have you noticed how the trams in european cities have 1,2,3 or max 4 cars and how trams in simcity have up to 9? I mean, it's just not realistic. Is there any way to change this?

The number can be changed, but it will also affect the passenger rail, subway, and monorail train lengths. One property governs the lengths of all the commuter trains. Another property affects the lengths of the freight trains, so they won't be affected by the changes made to the commute train lengths.

Pedestrians can only walk on streets, roads, pedmalls, etc. that are pathed for pedestrians, not on ordinary lots (like plazas).

Sims will only commute to and from work, they will never go shopping or anything else.

In order to allow pedestrians to walk longer to work, I guess (unless the maximum distance pedestrians will walk is hardcoded) it would be possible to increase the speed of pedestrians. That would be like promoting the use of bicycles...

The default speed of pedestrians in the game is 3.5 km/h. However, to make a separate mod for increased walking speed is not feasible, as it wouldn't be compatible with NAM. It would have to be made for you personally, and in that case I would need to know which pathfinding plugin you're using in NAM.

A somewhat late reply for you, oldoldie....

It is possible to make a mod that removes the CAPs (by setting the initial CAPs high enough).

However, that will not allow you to get skyscrapers any faster. The development would still follow the laws of supply and demand.

Swamper77, first I'd like to thank you for responding, and I would like to ask you and everybody else capable of responding another thing and that is how do I make the change? How do I change the number of passengers a car can take? I was thinking of something like three times as much, so I wouldn't get more than 3-car trams.

Eurocity,

To make the changes, you will need iLive's Reader from the Modds and Downloads section of this site. One of the files that came with the NAM is a "automata plugin", which controls the numbers of the various vehicles, and their lengths if they are train based.

In the automata plugin you chose for the NAM:

- To change the number of sims per train car car, edit property "Sims Per Train Car".

- To change the length of the commuter trains, edit property "Commute Train Length".

Both affect the passenger rail, subway, elevated rail/GLR, and monorail trains. So if you change the properties for one, you will change the properties for them all.

I've downloaded iLive's reader, made the changes in automata files and it worked! I didn't know it was so simple. I'm so happy, now I finally have credible european-looking trams. Again thank you very much I wouldn't have done it without you!

Well, let's try:

I like to name streets and places.

That for I use the signs. The letters written on the ground do look quite well. I can accept the colours used.

The grey signs (standing around) are much to big, and awful grey.
Primary I would like to use a smaller version. By the way, colours could be changed a bit.

I'm italian, from Rome. It would be fantastic to have the roma termini rail station on my SC4city (I'm rebuilding the whole city of Rome using a map of Rome I found on this website!)

the station is huge, it's made for at least 400.000 passengers/day and is big 225.000 square metres. There are 22 railway platforms.

In the main area and in the underground there is a big commercial centre with 100 boutiques.

The station is also a subway station.

In the rail station there is also police station and fire station

could someone please make a mod which increases demand for farming jobs (and nothing else!)? maybe like the "super demand ordinance", but only for the farming jobs. i think it would be really useful to create realistic looking cities, which usually have some fields around them.

i know there are ploppable fields on the stex, but it's to much cheating for me, i don't to like plop the whole city

Requesting plopable headstones/gravestones. I would like this to work like jeronij's garbage plop, and the other misc tree plops and plopable water, ect. in the mayor mode tools.

Plopable headstones would allow us to make are own unique cemetaries. Just add fencing and pathways...

I would like a mod for terrain colors that helps placing PEG pond & stream tiles. I have terrain with lakes, rivers and streams flat from the DEM data, but it is not always easy to see where the flat area ends and gentle sloping begins. Is it possible to turn all flat tiles blue, and have slopes from flat more distinctive?

Well there so many cool office buldings that could be perfect to plop as residential,I know everybody says that they dont work but they work fine with my cities,i just plop them over an already zoned land and they work fine.

HEEEEELP! I tried to change the purpose of some buldings from commercial to residence and now they just disappeared from the menus,non of them , It's so weird,I just chnage the wealth and purpose types and added capacity of course,same thing happened when I tried to make a functional landmark,it was first on the menu and now it's gone ....what can i do? I used the reader and sc4 tool!

@Hotel: I'd recommend that you buy Rush Hour because much of the content on this website requires it. Find it at a local Wal-Mart or other discount store. Since it's been over three years since the release date, it is very cheap. I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my ability.

1. I believe that this can be done with the SimCity 4 Terraformer (SC4TF). However, I'm not sure if it can be run without Rush Hour/Deluxe. I'd check, though 2.gif. However, raising or lowering the terrain in any way will destroy any buildings in that location.

2. Well, I don't think it's possible for completely smooth slopes, due to SC4's tile based grid system, but I think there are some smoother slope (more realistic grades) mods out there. Try looking on the STEX and in the Modds and Downloads section.

3. More effects (that's what those are called) have been made, but never officially released (other than thicker fog, I believe). Besides, they weren't animals. I, too, would like to see more animals, but there was a thread on this somwhere, and there wasn't a large enough audience for something to even be attempted. Sorry.

This has probably been requested before...is there a mod that makes waterfront property more valuable? (like it was in SC3k)?

Are there a mod out there that forces the game to build houses of the same size that i zone?

You know, if you zone a 2x2 zone and then one more besides that, the game often build a house with 3x2. I want the game to build exactly how i say it to do. Is there a mod for that? Or can someone do one?

I would like to see a modd that ONLY allows residential BATs to grow but still allows commercial MAXIS buildings to grow. That would be cool...

Nah, theoretically it would be possible, but the game isn't meant for that... it's supposed to simulate real life.

You need the mod Block ALL Maxis Buildings by DuskTrooper. It includes one file for each RCI type you want to block. Install only the files that block residentials (filenames TSB_BlockAll_R*.dat) 2.gif

Hi everyone. I was wondering if there is a mod out there that will let special tiles still show when in zone mode. Kinda like how the roads and tracks stay shown. It gets to be a pain when you place a bus stop or train station in a larger city then forget where everyone was placed.

Pretty much I want all special tiles to show up except for landmarks. IE: playgrounds, parks, bus-train-subway stations.

gdwolfe: I believe only the transit networks show up during zone view, and to alter it would be messing with the .exe file (a no-no).
