This happened in Belgium, but then a bit more extreme. A woman somehow drove into a premetro (tram running underground, built for a future upgrade to heavy metro) tunnel in Brussels, it was quite a work to get her car out of the metro network again :P

When was that? 1910?  Freud would have had a field day.

Close...this was apparently an early public airshow called the "Internationale Luftschiffahrt Ausstellung" held in 1909 at what would become the old Rebstock airfield in Frankfurt am Main.  Imagine, at the time that fair would have been a wonder of the world showcasing the cutting edge of modern progress and German technological supremacy.

This was also the era that brought Sigmund Freud to develop his radical psychological theories.  Yeah...zeppelins...frankfurters...whatever could have inspired him?  Things in Europe then got surreally neurotic towards the end of Freud's career:

    Gustav%2Bgun2.jpg

"It's just a really big rail gun, Mein Führer...it doesn't make you look like you are compensating for something else at all!"

But, that is nothing compared to Hirohito's war tuba:

    future-schemes-of-air-defence-1.jpeg

"Asia and J-rock berongs to us!"

Actually, before the advent of radar, those are acoustic locators designed to help detect and track enemy aircraft by listening for their sound.  While the Imperial Japanese Army War Tubas scream Steampunk, other such acoustic horn devices look like bad eardrum accidents waiting to happen:

Speaking of accidents waiting to happen...

No way am I standing anywhere near the edge of the platform.

Just remember that the Germans are great inventors.  And yes, der Fuehrer did have sexual hangups.  Well documented and not for repetition in a PG forum.

The Schwerer Gustav, that was one of the most biggest pieces of artillery ever built, but I have my doubts about its practicality.

Talking about the world after Freud, what would think Freud about our admiration to those tall buildings that we call skyscrapers?

Also, I have a somekind of rage comic with Freud against Marx, but I don't think it is propperly to being posted here.

    But this one is interesting:

Phallic symbols, of course.  The Romans were famous for this.  I can't post on here the image of one of the paintings dug up by the archaeologists.  This guy really wanted to be a Pater Familias.

Never heard of this course. My high school only offered Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, and Trigonometry .

You've never heard of Euclid?  What geometry did you learn?  Plane geometry as taught when I was in school came from the first couple of books of Euclidean Geometry.

Later on, in uni, I got a full course in the Erlangen Program in which the first five books of Euclid are considered to be axioms.  First topic: Affine Geometry (similarities); then conformal geometry where you discover that a circle can be a straight line if it passes through the point at infinity; then on to topology where we proved the general theory of relativity without one scrap of algebra nor calculus.
