Amazing to see how these bars form a neat and tidy curve.

Ooooo, pretty graphs. And look! There's me! :P

Anyways, another factoid.. I *think* I still hold the title of most trixies earned in one year at 9 in 2010, followed by Cockatoo with 8 in 2009. Someone correct me if I'm wrong :P

You'd be correct according to the Institute of Trixielite Chemistry.

That'd mean I would be in the top 200?

Undoubtedly, although I can't say exactly what rank you're at since my list that I keep cuts off at 3000 posts (currently 102 people have reached that mark). Make another 234 posts and you'll qualify to start being kept track of. :)

Amazing to see how these bars form a neat and tidy curve.

I would guess that if we ignore all the zeroes that post counts would roughly follow a Poisson distribution with λ equal to some single digit number.

How many people are there with 0 post? How about under 10.

A lot. Many only signed up to use the STEX.

More than a lot, pretty much the whole member base. I would assume 90%+ of members do not have any posts on this site.

Speaking of posts, I remember ST used to keep track of our average posts per day. I think that feature went away when the latest update came. I for one would like to know what they are.

I guess you can take the amount of  posts you have and divided it by the number of days you have been on ST. So for me having been registered for 2,271 days and having 4,806 posts means I make 2.12 posts a day on average.

I used this site to figure out how many days I've been around. Take the day you registered (so for me it is December 2, 2005) and then enter today's date to get your number.

How many people are there with 0 post? How about under 10.

I believe the last time we checked the database, there were actually over 9000 registered users without any posts. Very interesting statistic that...

Far more than that! Just 6.67% of registered members have made at least one post.

Far more than that! Just 6.67% of registered members have made at least one post.

And how many of those are active?

I'm willing to bet it probably boils down to less than 250.

    EDIT: I've worked out that:

    • 10 members have at least 10,000 posts
    • 456 members have at least 1,000 posts
    • 2289 members have at least 100 posts
    • 9937 members have at least 10 posts
    • 39518 members have at least 1 post

From this we can work out that only 6.71% of members have a post, as Hamish said. Of those that do:

    • only 25.15% will make at least 10. (~1 in 4)
    • only 5.79% will make at least 100 (~1 in 27)
    • only 1.15% will make at least 1000 (~1 in 87)
    • only .025% will make at least 10000 (~1 in 3952)

    Feel special guys.

Wow, this is some dedicated math work, Way to go I never would have thought it would be on a graph.

If possible, I wonder how it would look, the most active posters on a pie chart Vs. everyone else, what pct. of overall posts do they make up?

    You called?

    ststats_top100_posters_pie_chart.jpg

Given the figures provided by ROFLyoshi that we have just over 40 000 people with actually one post or more, our Resident Moose takes up 2% of all posts... alone...

    ststats_post_distribution_pie_chart.jpg

The last chart look strikingly similar to what scientists believe what's the portion of matter, dark matter and dark energy in our universe...

Look at the bottom of the forums front page ;)

    https://community.simtropolis.com/

Another factoid: I have 72 files on the STEX, which generated 386 563 downloads! That's 5369 downloads per file on average! Impressive...

    Other STEX factoids:

    - There are 17 863 files on the STEX, generating 85 699 465 downloads.

    - This means that the average STEX file is downloaded 4798 times.

11, actually. One of them isn't showing up on the auto-generated list because the account he made the vast majority of his posts with was banned. Hence the limitations of that list. ;)

Whilst we all (probably) know who holds the most posts and who has the most rep points, a few other "records" have come to mind, which we don't know who holds.

Most prolific member without a Trixie: I know I have 2,283 posts now, but with no Trixie to my name. I wonder if there's anyone higher?

EDIT: OcramSeattle has 5,002 posts without any form of award, MOTM, Trixie or otherwise.

Least prolific member with a Trixie: Maybe there's someone who has done something so blatantly awesome and award deserving without many posts?

Forum butterfly: Most posts for length of time. Probably someone from the SC2013 section.

Best rep/post ratio: Could be Krisman, who has a staggering 20 to 1 ratio, holding only 4 posts yet 80 rep points. This would be due to his inactivity on the forums yet running a stunning City Journal.

Any others we can think of?

I doubt I will get any awards, or reach 6,000 posts for a variety of reasons but the biggest one is that I have decided to leave the sinking ship for Minecraft Forum. Several fandoms have gone downhill but Minecraft is still on the incline.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

    Sinking ship?

I feel as with EA showing an renewed interest in the Sim city franchise, we are once again gaining traction for the future.

SC4 is not going anywhere anytime soon. In a way SC13 kind of revivied it a bit.

SC13 on the other hand I will agree is a sinking ship, but at least they're patching it here and there. The next patch (6.0) will finally have a windowed fullscreen mode added to the game.

I wonder what % of the rep given out on this site has come from the SC13 board. I recon it could be as high as 50%!

Sinking ship?  Is that because the bilge rats always leave when there is a little seawater slopping around down there?  Just move up to the orlop deck, and you should be safe from the minor amount of water intake.

Currently there is hell to pay and no pitch hot in Maxis land, but the good ship Simtropolis sails well in these troubled waters.  If we could we'd throw them a tow line, but they are not taking any on board.  Near as I can tell all they've done is fother a few sails over the rips in the bottom.  White Star thought the Titanic couldn't sink either.

Let us support the skipper and tail on to that line.  Handsomely now!
