What is the Archive Directory for?

Installing SimCity 4 Deluxe creates a default folder in the My Documents/SimCity 4 directory.  I have never seen anything inside it.  What is it for? How do we use it?

(See Attached Picture)

Thanks!

Good question, since I don't have it.  I suppose it was created by some installer or other, as were some of mine.

List:

SimCity 4
├── Exception Reports
├── HTTPCache
├── LBT_Downloads
├── LEX_Downloads
├── NAM_Documentation
├── Plugins
├── Regions
├── SimCity 4.cfg
└── STEX_Downloads

With the exception of the NAM_Documentation folder, the others came out of thin air due to things like plugin installations.

Thank you for sharing your list and explaining.  After reading your idea, that has got to be the answer.  Thanks.

One thing's for sure, it's definitely not used by the game.

Are you using / have previously used the DIC (Download and Installation Catalogue) by chance? It's basically an advanced tool which allows custom content to be organised and managed more efficiently. I believe an "Archive" folder can be created and used when processing files. For example, before uninstalling a plugin, instead of deleting it, the file(s) can be transferred from your main plugins folder to this archive. This can be useful in case you wish to reinstall a particular plugin.
