As I am sure I have stated before innumerable times, I'm not much of one for sport. I don't usually go out of my way to watch it, but I will if there's not much else on.

I do like having a Test match on though (that's Cricket), especially if it comes down to the final day.

I've watched a couple of baseball games, they were OK. I have enough familiarity with the sport to at least have some idea of what was going on.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

542: Soccer is growing in popularity, with a national competition being contested in a way similar to Major League Soccer.

There's always interest in the world cup however. We qualified in 1974, and found ourselves in a pool with both Germanys. You can guess that how that went.

(also the only country to ever qualify for a world cup on a penalty shootout)
Edit:I am the worst at this, and in can't edit on mobile. 542 I am!

The Pirate game just ended and now the network is airing an old Pens/Habs game. Grrr. Just thinking about hockey makes me sad.

Thanks for the refresh of the preschool curriculum.

@ Muck, Pirates are in first for the wildcard, Can they at least make it over .500 for the first time since 1992?

Last time they were this far into the season over .500, you have to go back to 1999 where they fell under it on July 1st and ended the season 73-83. (.484) in 3rd.

That was also A-Ram's rookie season.

Excellent idea, I think I'm going to suggest this to my university. Manifestations, sit-ins, occupation of the rectorate building,... I want cookies! We are a campus of 10.000 students, so profitability shouldn't be a problem :P The only thing we have is 1 bank, 1 copy center, 3 cafés and 1 student restaurant :(

My university has a decent amount of stuff. Off the top of my head I recall there's a few restaurants around, a bar, at least one bank, a post office, a convenience store, a bakery, a Subway (and other smaller fast food places), optometrist, computer store, hairdresser, gym, and it's pretty close to a few shopping centres.

I'm going to buy NFL Sunday Ticket or whatever it's called so I can enjoy my favorite sport now that we've decided to settle down here.

*sigh* I have to work on the 4th next month.  No all-day beers and barbecue for me.

My high school once had a Subway restaurant, but closed due to poor business.

My university now has many fast food restaurants and other no-name but expensive cafeterias :<

Nowadays I have lunch outside of campus very often.

560: Franchises IN your high school? Ha!

My high school was actually located 3km out from the town, so getting lunch was limited to packing your own or overpriced cafeteria food. Course that all changed when we got our licences, except for me who finished school before I was 18.

Being in a suburban location, there wasn't really anywhere you could walk to for lunch from my high school. You needed a car to get anywhere of interest (and only upperclassmen had driver's licenses, since you needed to be 16 for that). The fact that you only had 24 minutes for lunch further dampened the idea of going anywhere but the cafeteria.

The thing of it is, according to the rules you were not allowed to leave the school building at any point prior to dismissal at the end of the day. Even going to the parking lot to get something out of your car wasn't allowed. Of course, some students did so anyway, but you risked getting detention if you got caught.

563: For your information, there is no such thing as a suburban location in Singapore.

Edit: ↓ my point - Subway restaurant in high school =nothing worth getting hot and bothered about (the girls do, however)

In my country, girls like Subway, guys prefer BK (meat monsters!)

Actually, Burger King does exist in Australia, but they are known as "Hungry Jack's" because the name "Burger King" was already trademarked by someone else in the country before they expanded there.
