"Huh-ha!"

Beyond that, I highly recommend driving through Vermont. The air is so... breathable. Coincidentally, while I was doing just that this past weekend, my cousin told me he has never seen any of the Monty Python movies. I was referencing The Meaning of Life and he was returning a blank stare. This will not do!

5252 (Nice!)

The best part about Monty Python's Meaning of Life is the short movie usually shown before it, The Crimson Permanent Assurance. The plan was to make a 5-minute animated short, but Terry Gilliam went on and on and it eventually became a short of 30 minutes, edited down to 16 minutes.

Monty Python is one of the best movies ever. I've only seen short parts of it but gosh is it funny..

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

It was when I was in college that I was first introduced to the Monty Python movies. My dad had previously taken proper measure to ensure that I was aware of Monty Python's Flying Circus (I still remember the first episode I saw, Blancmanges) but the movies truly solidified my appreciation for that troupe, and further, British humor as a whole. To this day I adore British film and tv.

If you've never seen the show Peep Show, watch it immediately. It's on US Netflix. "Hitler promised not to invade Czechoslovakia, Jeremy." The ninth and final season was filmed this summer. I am eagerly awaiting its release.

I first learned about Monty Python when I was in middle school from an unusual source - in Duke Nukem: Time to Kill, holy hand grenades are a weapon in the game. My dad started laughing hysterically upon seeing this, and then when I didn't understand why this was rectified with a trip to Blockbuster.

More recently I made my girlfriend watch Holy Grail, which she had heard of but never seen. Alas, she laughed at almost nothing and complained afterward that the movie made no sense.

This seems to be a common pitfall with Monty Python - people keep waiting for the punchline, and then get annoyed and disappointed when there isn't one. Appreciating it requires being able to accept that the absurdity itself is the entire joke, and there isn't going to be any point at which it will come together and make sense.

They don't really have foreign comedy in Japan, so my wife hadn't seen any Monty Python before we started dating in college.  In fact, it was a few years before any American/British comedy was funny to her.  Having lived in Japan myself for almost 8 years, it really is difficult to "get" comedy in a different language.  So many word plays are just lost when you're not fluent, or you're approaching fluency.

Anyways, she thinks they're hilarious now.

I watched Meaning Of Life with my cousin last night. He didn't laugh a whole lot but he did say it was brilliant afterward.

Yeah, Meaning of Life is like that. A lot of "what the hell am I watching" that takes time to digest. Along with some things that were topical when the movie was released but not so much today. The hospital birth scene was a scathing satire of the then-current fad of involving as much technology as possible in the process of having and raising babies while dismissing the natural means as primitive and inferior. Today the trend is exactly the opposite and that scene is likely to fly right over the head of anyone not aware of what was normal 30 years ago.

I wanted to see the movie Pawn Sacrifice about the life of Bobby Fischer but they really messed up the casting, Bobby is probably rolling in his grave right now over who is protraying him.

Tobey Maguire's career seems to have stalled a bit in recent years. I always liked Pleasantville and the first 2 Spiderman movies he did.

I like to show the movie S.F.W. to people who have never seen it and watch their reaction when his only scene comes up. Good movie, not great but one of my old favorites.

S.F.W. is a mediocre movie that I saw when I was a teenager and no idea what a good movie was so I still really like it. IMDb page. Again, it's a good movie but not great. Although I played it for a girl I was dating last year and she adored it. She apparently recommended it to a number of her customers at The Exchange.

Can someone remind me how to edit my sig? I tried to to just that about 2 weeks ago and now my image is expired so.... yeah. Thanks in advance!

To edit your signature click on your profile name at the top right corner of the site, in the drop down menu click on account settings and in the list going across the screen you will see 'signature', click on that and your on your way.        I suggest imgur.com for images haven't had an issue so far.

So you don't know who Victor or Hiro are? Oh man you have some catching up to do lol. No James or Gordon? or my little buddies favorite Percy?

I only know because I have a 4 year old cousin who is obsessed with Trains and could probably name every single character on that show.

Okay, so I just looked it up and wow, there is a ton of Thomas related stuff I'm not familiar with. I certainly don't remember there being anyone named Victor or Hiro. Looks like all the episodes I ever watched were from the first three seasons of the show, and they're now up to 21 seasons. Yeesh.

I had no idea they were even still making new episodes!

My kids watched that show in Japan, so I know the names, but I couldn't place them to the trains to save my life.  In Japan, most foreign shows are broadcast with Japanese dubbing with an option to switch to the original-language track if you press a button on your remote.  Strangely enough, the Thomas TV show didn't do that until this past year.  My kids surely thought it was a Japanese show, and then suddenly they had to watch it in English.  They had to be like, "What the heck, Dad?"

Tobey Maguire's career seems to have stalled a bit in recent years. I always liked Pleasantville and the first 2 Spiderman movies he did.

Back in 2007, Tobey Maguire was enthusiastically tied to a live-action "Robotech" movie under Warner Bros., and then he stalled.  Supposedly, Maguire was aiming to both produce the movie and play the lead role of potentially Rick Hunter, the Americanized version of ace fighter pilot Ichijō Hikaru from the hit mecha anime series "Super Dimension Fortress Macross," which was exported and recompiled to create the first chapter of the landmark "Robotech" series in the 1980s.  However, that show was infamous for being "Macekred" (aka "massacred") by the U.S. dubbing and editing and then having its lucrative franchise bitterly entrapped in international licensing hell.  Still, the U.S.-dubbed series was supposedly successful enough to even be re-dubbed back into Japanese and re-imported back to Japan in its U.S.-edited form!  Earlier this year, Sony reportedly picked up the license from Warner Bros., and now that the knotted tangle from decades of lawsuits over the franchise have been settled, we might actually see some development.  I had hordes of Transformers and Legos as a kid, but was ambivalent to those movies; a "Robotech" movie, even in hands of Hollywood and even if licensing rights limited it to re-imagining the less-popular, post-Macross chapters, would leave me in tears.  Maguire will now be likely be too old to play Rick Hunter, and the rumor mill even had Maguire-friend Leonardo DiCaprio wanting a spot, but what want to know is who they will cast as Lynn Minmay, the bubblehead J-pop idol whose singing sank a thousand alien ships?

Yep Thomas has changed,  the older ones used to be filmed model train sets really running along on tracks and running into little models etc. Now its all animated and they can do a lot more. Thomas has been off the island lol  Before there were a handful of trains now you need multiple hands to count them.

It is difficult to find a decent , good paying job here in the US . Depending on the field of employment one desires . Everybody would like a good paying job , but many are held back due to educational background . And an educated person can struggle as well , due to greed from the corporate empire . Demographics makes a difference also . I wish good luck to anybody trying to find work these days . To be self employed is probably the best job to have . Stay in school , whoever still attends . It's a tough world out there , and knowledge is wealth .

Funny thing is , I only completed the 7th grade . So I know how hard things can be without education . It will be one struggle after another . Stay intuitive , you can learn from others mistakes with less pain and suffering yourself .
