    juantrev: Thanks for the compliments.

RHF: Also thanks for the compliments.

To All: The next update should come tommorow and will probably be on East Bayville, the second or third oldest town in the region and a major industrial center, with a seaport. It has never been shown yet in this CJ. 10.gif

King: Thanks for the compliments. Actually in the summer of 2003, I had a CJ that got nominated for some trixies. It didn't win any, but that's because there were some great CJs around even then. It was called Ocean Cove-Palm Shores, you might find it if you do a search but it doesn't have any pictures left. Just thought you'd be interested. 10.gif

To All: The East Bayville update should come later today. East Bayville may not be the nicest looking town as an industrial center, but without it the industrial sector of the region wouldn't be what it is now. There's some interesting stuff in East Bayville. It also has a port on the bay. So watch out for that one. 3.gif

Thanks for your feedback on my last post. The area that I showed you in the pic was only a VERY small portion of the Miami-Metro area. And like you said, most people DON'T live in Miami, but actually commute. Only the poorest of the poor live near downtown, in areas north of Flagler and west of I-95. Really, this was a vibrant area until the interstate system set up in the 1950s literally ran right through the area known as Allapatta. East of I-95, the high-rises and apartments are wealthy condos all with ocean beach-front.

I looked at some maps of the New Jersey coast, and if it is what you are trying to simulate, than you re doing a great job. 19.gif I frequently use YAHOO! MAPS to check out different types of maps. Because most of New England is very old, Boston being a god example, the streets were not made to accommodate SO many people. But in your cities, you made easily accessible road-ways and high-ways for your citizens living in the suburbs

Can't wait to see East Bayville! Even if it's not the prettiest town, what would the region be without an industrial base?

    your_adress_here: Thanks for the compliments.

Zagreus: Thanks for the compliments and information. Ocean Point may be ficticious, but its really based off the New Jersey coast. I've gotten inspiration from Florida as well.

That map of Coral Gables really does look like some of the towns in Pinewood County. Especially the area south of the main waterway, and east of Ingraham Highway. The rich area with the Ferraris. Most of Ocean Point isn't that rich, but some parts are. I like the roads particularly north of Sunset Road and west of Ingraham Highway as they are a mix of random and grid. I also like the roads east of Ingraham Highway and north of the main waterway. It's not a grid pattern, but more of a parallel street pattern which not only is very realistic, but also more effective and nicer looking in SC4 as well. Instead of having all of the intersections that come with a grid, the parallel roads eliminate many of the intersections.

So again, thanks for all of the input as this is extremely useful for this CJ. 10.gif

    RHF: Thanks for the compliments.

King: Thanks. Well, not really............14.gif. I don't blame you though.

    RHF: Thanks.

    To All:

The East Bayville update should come by this evening. It's not the nicest looking town in the world, but it's pretty realistic. East Bayville was the second town founded in the region, after Ocean Point. Well, I won't get into this here, but there will be a large history of the town which will be a part of the update. 10.gif

Mikeaut: Thanks. Now I can join you and the others in the 15 page club. Haha. 3.gif

    King: Thanks.

    To All:

East Bayville is the only town in the region which hasn't been shown yet except in regional views, so here it is.

    On to the update....

    EAST BAYVILLE CONTINUES TO GROW

One of the First Towns in the Region Still a Main Industrial Center

East Bayville has always been an industrial town. When it was founded in the mid 1600's, the township was sparsely populated and mainly consisted of shops and businesses. By the early 1800's, the town had become a heavily industrial town and by the late 1800's, it was a booming town with factories and many polluting industries. It remained this way through the early 1900's, then became less of a polluting town by the mid 1900's. Today, East Bayville still bears much of the regional brunt of dirty industry in Pinewood County, but demand for this type of development is well below zero. Even manufacturing industrial demand is well below zero. Thus, any additional industries that move in to East Bayville will most likely be high tech businesses.

In recent times East Bayville has seen much development in the form of low income housing. There's a great demand for it in the region, and this town was willing to develop its empty spaces into low income housing. The population of the town is now over 5,000; it had been at around 500 before the housing developments began. Many of the low income housing has been built in undeveloped industrial areas, and the rich sims don't really like to venture into many parts of this town. Still, East Bayville fills a void in the region as a town with low income residential areas and dirty industrial areas as it has always had.

The town name East Bayville was originally supposed to be East Baytown', as the township is east of Baytown. The township is on both sides of Marshland Bay. The area known as Bayville is west of the bay, and the area known as East Bayville is on the east side of the bay. However, the township is called East Bayville Township.

Here is a map of Pinewood County (The region) with an enlarged map of East Bayville and vicinity:

    eastbayvillemap3cz.gif

Here's on overview of East Bayville. Bayville in the west and East Bayville in the east can be seen, along with Port East Bayville and most of the township.

    overview5nm.jpg

Port East Bayville isn't very large, but there are plans to make it larger. As an industrial town on Marshland Bay, a port was necesarry in this town. The port isn't as large, and isn't expected to be as large, as Port South Shores in the town of South Shores, on South Bay. Still, Port East Bayville serves a good purpose as the only port in the southern portion of Marshland Bay.

    port2vm.jpg

The East Bayville Regional Power Plant (EBRPP) was recently constructed, and it sends about 22,000 MWh of power per month to Ocean Point. This deal may or may not stay in place, but it has for now made this power plant the second regional power plant in Pinewood County. The first is the Seaside Point Natural Gas Plant, which completely powers the wealthy shore town of East Point. The EBRPP may extend to other towns such as Bayside or Baytown by selling power to them, especially if the deal with Ocean Point gets cancelled.
    powerplant0pf.jpg

I-31 goes through the southwestern corner of East Bayville Township, in the Bayville section. There is an East Bayville exit, and the highway has helped the town in its growth. It provides a main connection to Ocean Point to the southeast and Baytown to the northwest.

The National Guard Base in Bayside has expanded to include a facility in East Bayville. The base now goes by the name of Pinewood County National Guard Base. It has helped the town with its budget problems by providing some monthly income, and has brought additional jobs to the town as well.

Looks good! Figures you'd choose the dirtiest city in the region to place a coal power plant park...by the way, it says that East Bayville is the oldest industrial town. Does that mean South Shores is the newest?

RHF: Thanks. South Shores is the newest industrial town, although there are several in the region. Although they are mostly residential, Baytown, North Beach and Ocean Point all have fairly large industrial areas.

    To All:

Progress on the next update will begin shortly. The update will most likely be on Pinewood Shoals or South Inlet. Ahead of that, I plan on showing East Pinewood, and then probably beginning new development on a new map and making an update there. 10.gif

DragonAnime: Thanks. Yeah, those power plants are Coal Plants.

    supersimman: Thanks.

King: Thanks. I guess that water pollution is there to stay, too bad it can't be removed.

Darmok: Thanks for the compliments. When soldiers get promoted, they go from the Bayside Unit to the East Bayville Unit. To escape the garbage, of course. 3.gif

    bobinator: Thanks for the compliments.

    To All:
I've decided the next update will be on Pinewood Shoals. It should be out by sometime tommorow afternoon or evening. 10.gif

I especially liked the last few shots of West Bay in your previous update. Such a pretty wealthy area, and then the juxtaposition of seeing East Bayville right after that is very interesting. If I know you at all from what I've seen here so far, I imagine that you showed us those two in order on purpose? 1.gif

    flanig: Thanks.

oroen: Thanks. Actually, I didn't do that on purpose because my updates are in random order. But that's a really good idea. 3.gif

    To All:

Today's Pinewood Shoals update will arrive probably in the afternoon. Pinewood Shoals is a mostly residential town on the south banks of the Pinewood River, downstream from Great Bend and upstream from Pinewood Banks and Ocean Point. The new Pinewood River Ferry has been doing extremely well in this area, giving commuters shorter commutes. Well, I can't say too much right now. 10.gif

a different type of CJ....although I must give you credit for not being afraid to give your city a an ugly industrial area.  This gives it realistic look!  Good job.

Sorry for the double post, but the update has been delayed. It should still be ready, though, before tommorow morning.

I would also like to know if I should continue making the maps for updates. They take a while to make, and I spent a long time making a downtown map for Pinewood Shoals today. So what do you think I should do with the maps? Thanks.

Again, sorry for not getting the update out yet. But don't worry, it should definately come sometime tonight. 10.gif

Doesn't really matter to me...I personally like the maps, but if it's too much of a hassle to make them, I could live without them.
