Network Addon Mod.

It's available straight off the front homepage for now, or can also be found under Modding Files/ The essentials.

I would say-- yes, you do need it, if you want it... It improves traffic pathfinding considerably (but makes SC4 even more of a resource hog) as well as giving you almost infinite road layout and intersection possibilities, mostly through the use of puzzle pieces. It's tough to get the hang of, but once you touch it, you won't play without it...

The NAM is a wonderful collection of mod files that allow your city greater flexibility when designing a transportation network.  You don't technically need it, but you should get it.44.gif

I've yet to use those puzzle pieces, but I love NAM simply because of the left turn lanes that appear when you cross avenues, they look incredible. Also, you get different kinds of roundabouts if you create a tiny circle of road.

Just remember to check off the box for additional addons when installing NAM, or you won't see them.

The avenue turn lanes are fully functional and actually help with UDI missions when turning off of an avenue (normally, it's very easy to accidentally make a U-turn when all you intended to do was turn left).

The road turning lanes are functional, I'd say, about 50% of the time. In UDI, you will sometimes merge into the turning lane when going straight (and then merge back while continuing to go straight), and sometimes make a left from the right lane, depending on the intersection configuration and how you hold the buttons on your approach. The sims don't seem to be any better at it than I am. But they do look great.

That's pretty realistic since people do it real life ALL THE TIME!!!26.gif32.gif

I was wondering how much more it slows down your computer? I have 512mb of RAM and was wondering if this is enough so the NAM won't slow down my computer?

I don't think you will notice the difference, unless you have a computer like BlackBeard's. 31.gif

Do you need public etiquette lesson again, BB? 9.gif

Obviously the more RAM you have, the better the game will run no matter what. 2 Gigs here, still takes a long time to load my 1.3 gigs of active plugins, but the game runs smoothly most of the time. I used to have 320 MB in my old system. That couldn't even handle a vanilla RH game smoothly during Day/Night changes!

Please help, I download NAM last week and installed it. There's nothing wrong except for the right hand drive arrangement of the road which supposed the transportation are left hand drive. What should I do, can I re-install the NAM. Thank you very much

trey2k: When you installed it, you click on the left-hand plug-ins. Look throught the folder where you have installed NAM and just erase the one called something with Left_Hand. Can't remember what it's called.

Please DO read the readme file, when you get problems like this.

if you want those left turn lanes, do you have to put a certain .dat file in the plugins folder? because I have NAM but I don't see the left turn lanes.

NAM is worth the download if only for the highway-Avenue transition. This one little added ability cuts down massively on the space you need to get your sims on and off the highway, and is the one thing that I'm sure I couldn't do without.

I could do that without nam, you sure about that?

Path finding is the best part of nam.

I think that everyone on ST should have the NAM. However latest stats (pc/mac users) show that just under 72% have the NAM!

So to answer your question. Yes get the NAM. You will thank yourself when the traffic flows a lot better no pun intended!

What I hate about the puzzle pieces is the damn tooltip that covers the piece itself. Is there a way, or a mod, to disable to tooltip, with a hotkey, or perhaps to get it to disappear after 1 sec?

Yes this little item is annoying.. You do want to see what it says, but then you'd like it to just go away.. 4.gif  I don't have the greatest eyesight in the world anyways, but trying to "peek" around that baloon is really annoying..
