Why settle for the same old view? Wouldn't it be nice if there could be a change in scenery when you want to look out the window? How about a skyscraper with rotating floors AKA the Dynamic Tower-

I don't know. Those solar roadways seems like a bit of a hoax to me. What I think is that the cities need more of these:

 

 

Perhaps not as futuristic as most of what we see here, but it is effective in multiple ways, and that's where the future lies for cities.

I agree with you. Solar roadways will not work well, especially in parking lots, when cars are over them blocking the sun. Also, try shining an LED light out in the sun (use LED Christmas lights). You won't be able to see the lights very well, so the lane markings would be very hard if not impossible to see during the day.

Here's my stance; it's a cool concept to have and yes it's not going to be without its share of bugs staring out. The project is still in it's infancy and we won't know for sure how they will hold up unless we try them out (on a small scale). Give them a year or two on parking lots first. Then when they have been put through their paces should we re-evaluate if they can be taken to the next step which are the actual roadways.

This is not futuristic, it is actual. Is a photo of Moscow, and looks too cyberpunk:

On the same note as Alejandro, Sacramento International had some work completed on it a couple of years ago and I think the airport buildings look somewhat futuristic. The airport is like it's own little city with shops everywhere and its own transportation system.

 

This is the main concourse. Three levels tall and this is where you'd check in, do some shopping, and ride the people movers to the gates (The gates are not connected to the concourse with the exception of the people movers; shown below)

 

The people mover is very new, though to ride it you'd have to be a ticketed passenger.

 

I really don't understand why they chose a rabbit as the centerpiece when you'd first walk in..

 

And this is inside Terminal B. The place draws a lot of its light from natural sunlight and the seats have power outlets for phones, computers, etc.

 

And here's a bonus picture- San Francisco International is upgrading its control tower to match the design of the main buildings.

Here's a fun fact about Vegas- They offer helicopter tours out of McCarran Intl. Airport. You can opt to take one during the day and see the Hoover Dam or take one at night where you will fly down the strip and even through that beam of light coming from the tip of the Luxor (the black pyramid pictured)!

I just noticed that all of these are night time images. Big cities take on a kind of futuristic look at night.

Ecumenopolis is a city made of the whole world. According to the Greek city planner Constantinos Doxiadis, in the future urban areas and megalopoleis will eventually fuse, creating a single continuous worldwide city. Many science fiction stories include worldwide cities, like Coruscant in Star Wars and Holly Terra in Warhammer 40,000.

 

But how possible is it? Can we build a city large enough to cover the Earth, without destroying our planet? The answer is "yes". To do this, we need technologies such as 3D printers, flying cars, autonomous mobile buildings that can be built in different terrains, and telecommunications. I was watching shows on a channel called Boomerang (its a channel that plays re-runs of old cartoons from the 60's through the 00's for those who have never heard of it) the other day and one of the shows they were playing was The Jetsons. They're nicknamed "the first family of the future" because they live in the year 2061 with flying cars and the style is more along the lines of Ray Gun Futurism. Here's some pictures I ripped from Google Images:

The Jetsons was one of the first futuristic shows that I loved watching growing up, right alongside the Back To The Future trilogy. Futurama was a show that I got into later but it's another one that I lie to enjoy!

 

As for Boomerang, it's one of my favorite channels! But they made one serious mistake and that is they stopped running Boomeraction (the late night block with all of the action cartoons like SWAT Kats, Samurai Jack, and the first Teen Titans) and that made me just a -tad- POed.

I found this nice video. Here is depicted a concept of a future city in animation. Although I'm not a huge fan of animation, I like this one because it has really nice designs for the technology and the cars on the street...

 Also, the 5th element has flying taxis, which I would give anything to ride in-

 

 

 

 

 

Can you make one as an automata? You can make it so it replaces the default taxi.Although flying taxi is impossible in sc4, you can change it and make it a hover taxi. It hovers about 2 feet off the ground.
