REading through 21 pages of posts is a bit much but has anyone thought about modding Maxis man? the building costs a ridiculous amount and the maintenance egads!!! If that's all there was to it that would be....tolerable, but on top of that you have to constantly pay to send him out to do stuff and 1/2 the time or more he fails? I'd rather see his building cost reduced by at least 60% and no maintenance costs. What an egotist to expect us to pay for his damned office. The 1 thing he has that's handy and may(I do say may as I haven't done the math) is that rather than spending the gazillion dollars to build the bigger fire station and all the attachments for the hazmat facility, he can act as a hazmat fire extinguisher and he can fly there so no traffic issues which is much much better. Just a thought. (I don't play Dr. Vu but I suppose his should be reduced as well).

I'd like to see clean interchanges between UDoN and the base road sets. For example, an Avenue to UDoN interchange or a clean ramp into a street intersection. I'm not sure how practical it is but it seems to be mostly cosmetic... pretty pretty pathways

How about trees you can place that have extra ground-pollution-removal capacity?  Some sort of hybrid tree; it could even cost more to plant.  Perhaps they could be more durable, as well.  For that matter, what about trees that have extra air-pollution-removal capacity?  just a thought!

What's wrong with this subway system, why I see these maglev-train models? Maybe there is problem with underground->above ground hub?

One of the things I dislike about the new simcity is that transit buildings(Such as bus stops and maglev) decrease land value; this gets really annoying and prevents me from putting such buildings in high-wealth areas. I would really appreciate a mod to remove that(In other words, modify transit buildings so that they have zero effect on land value)

Building a space center causes unbearable lag in certain cities for my regions

While Tech level stays at 1.5 without any electronics factories that have a university!!

Hello there, im not realy sure if there is already a topic about this, please let me know if it is.

Im no moder, i dont have the slightest idea of how to make mods or custom content for simcity, so here is a request for the people who can make it happen.

 

Having a Global Market with fixed rates is dull, it makes a trading specialized city completely useless unless you get your own resources from the ground, wich even if i did extract them it would take all the space i have reserved for RCI zoning.

So..... is there a way to make the Single Player Global Market rates change randomly every once in a while?

 

Making it change within a 3 day range would be just great, that way my trading cities would actually make a profit.

THIS WOULD INCLUDE THINGS LIKE, PEOPLE:

 

  • STOPPING CAR TRANSIT OR TAKING AN ENTIRE STREET

  • MOVING AROUND THE CITY

  • GIANT RIOTS OR AT LEAST BIGGER

  • SETTING THINGS ON FIRE, THROWING THINGS, BOMBS, ETC. (JUST LIKE SIMCITY 4)

  • POLICE ACTION

  • VANDALISM OR TERRORISM (KNOW THIS ONE SOUNDS WRONG, THOUGH IT'S TO MAKE THE GAME MORE INTENSE)

 

NOTE THAT MOST OF THESE SETTINGS WERE ALREADY FOUND, BUT DELETED FROM SIMCITY 4.

 

SOMETHING I WOULD ALSO LOVE IS MORE DISASTERS, SUCH AS (THIS WAS TAKEN FROM ANOTHER THREAD):

 

▪   CAR CRASHES - RANDOM CAR ACCIDENTS THAT CAUSE TRAFFIC UNTIL FIXED.

▪   PURGE - 12 HOURS OF COMPLETE ANARCHY. GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS ARE IMMUNE. EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF.

▪   TSUNAMI/FLOODING - THE CITY IS FLOODED AND INFRASTRUCTURE IS DAMAGED. RED CROSS RELIEF EXPANSION COULD PROVIDE HELP IF YOU HAVE THE PACK.

▪   LIGHTING/STORMS - LIGHTNING STRIKES BUILDINGS, SETTING THEM ABLAZE.

▪   HOMELESS UPRISING - ALL THE HOMELESS IN THE CITY GATHER AROUND TO TERRORIZE.

I think the new cheat mods need to be put into a pack. Not that I'm gonna download them, I prefer capton's enhancement mods. I just think it'd be a nice touch for those who will use it.

 

I also think there should be some cheat mods that allow a user to check 1 of 3 boxes to set different values for the cheat. For example:

Sewage

1: Enhancement (a little more realistic)

2: Cheat (Quite a bit more extreme)

3: Zero is my Hero (makes all costs 0 for said item)

Or maybe 3 seperate files that you can chose from. Kinda like XoXide's Bridge-tunnle mod, where you can download extreme or balanced (or try both and get 0 effect, get stumped for a week, and find out that you have half a dozen incompatibilites lol)

 

Or allow the user to imput their own values in a simplified way. I know this is a little too advanced though.

What you're asking for is certainly possible, but it would require lots of rewriting from the online code of the game, and many modders simply wouldn't know where to look.

Maybe once we have a full workforce coding and rewriting Global Market Code, we can do what you want in question.

No, and I'm not sure the engine has that functionality. If it does, it will be a while before anyone finds it. :)

First of all, my ears hurt. :)

Secondly, what you are talking about is the full GTA-ization of SimCity, and I'm not sure why you want that from a city builder, but:

Thirdly, the engine surely doesn't have the capacity to do such things. If someone were to make the things in question by learning how the animations for the game work, they would be purely visual, and the gameplay aspect of the things wouldn't be implementable.

And I KNOW that someone said no more Cities Skylines talk, but what I'm about to say would by moot in the Cities Skylines forums...

 

Good hope to see lots of real buildings made for it.

 

Then you may just wanna go the SC4 and use some BAT mods...

I analysed Cities:Skylines and their buildings. They are fake looking and worse in every way compared to SC buildings. I hope the modders can fix that with a BAT-like thing for Cities: Skylines. Otherwise this game is gonna be so crappy it won't even get it's own forum on Simtrop.

I think you really want all mods to be standardized and have all the same options, and if that happens, all of the creativity of the genre is really controlled.

If someone wants to customize what they want in a mod, they should really be making the mod themselves.

No, but that is a very easy value change, and it's really easy for someone to make! :)

This is another easy modification, but I think the real reason Maxis made that the default setting is for realism. If you were rich and living a posh skyscraper, why on Earth would you want a nice view of a bus terminal? XD

How about some ploppable interchanges similar to the ones in Cities XL's "Real Highway Mod 2.0".  Also an Avenue splitter that splits an avenue into two unidirectional lanes would be nice.

Hi Guys,

 

I am requesting what I think should be a fairly simple mod. I've tried to do it myself but have no idea what I am doing, so I will leave it to someone else's more capable hands. All I am trying to do is reduce how much the electronics factory (I am making computers) makes my sim population sick. Well, actually I want to eliminate it entirely if at all possible.

 

Any help would be much appreciated!

I would like to see some mass effect stuff like in sc4 to go along with the Cities of tomorrow pak. also if  some one can make a skin for the police helicopter like lapd or nypd that would be awesome. and finally some more replacement building for some of the buisnesses like oppie did for mcdonalds.

   A great idea for a mod would be one that adds OmegaCo delivery drones. Having delivery drones for OmegaCo products would solve the slow deliveries problem That pops up although you have full storage for oil and raw ore. If I knew how to mod I would have made it myself, but I guess lucks not on my side. If anyone could, I believe a mod like this would be terribly helpful, and most everyone would be grateful for you. If you do pursue to make it, may luck be with you that it not be too hard.

If anyone could build something like a government contractor, something like Northrop Grumman or Boeing or Lockheed, I think that'd be pretty neat. Definitely provide many jobs and exports. Or some other medical services like dentists. Private practices. I had designed a basic dental office in Gmax for SC4 a while back but deleted it. I could design it again in AutoCAD and email to you guys for converting into a useful medium for the game.

Also, how about some parking garages? They could be used to read traffic congestion and maybe generate a little revenue. You found also possibly incorporate a Park and Ride into them top further ease congestion.

Sort of like Mikeseiths 1960's automata? I've been thinking about asking that too. I'd like to see a mod for cars ranging from the 30's to the early 80's as well.

So i was wondering if there was a mod out that enabled me to have major road signs that could snap on to the road like the road side trees do.

The trick is i would like them to be customizable. Ideally the two i would love are:

1. Area signs such as for town or suburb names that might look something like this (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eYrNm90J6uo/TV5dMCxtabI/AAAAAAAAKg8/pNL2Ji_XYds/s1600/IMGP6667.JPG). Just to get difficult I would love to be able to change the value of the sign by say clicking on it and clicking on a button in the properties pop-up window thingy



2. The other type of sign i would like would be an intersection information sign like the one in this link --> http://www.mychillybin.co.nz/viewphoto/mychillybin100193/mychillybin100193_3585/w/mychillybin100193_3585.jpg-- I would love to be able to use them to show what each lane should be for or is for type things and again to have the labels adjustable.

Im sure this seems like an odd request but well one of the things I love about simcity 4 was being able to give streets names and put signs up to name areas. True the graphics for it were awful but I would love that feature back, with better graphics if possible XD

Hey guys, thanks for all the work again.

I love the re-textures of the passenger trains that are out there. I was wondering, has or can anyone make a retexture of the freight train models? I hate the CoT trains, and I still get the CoT freight w/ my current mod.

Also how about some sheriff offices? If we just want a small town why not have some small police stations? A sheriff office and some smaller stations would be nice.
