Simtropolis Help Squad & Member of the Month: Article Requests & Information

hello SHS!  I recently posted a large indepth review of the City Life demo game and have been getting a few responses.  One of those replies was a suggestion to have the review added to the omnibus.  Voar Tok instructed me to bring this issue before the SHS.  If you guys think that my review would make a positve addition to the site then I would be honored to have it added.

I have also been thinking of doing some tutorials with pics about getting a first city started and making a profit since that seems to be the number one question with many new joiners.  is the SHS the main portal for getting articles posted to the omnibus or are there other channels I should try first?

That sounds like an interesting plan.  I will have to spend some time this comming week reading it over and seeing what I come up with.  good idea.

I have another issue:

I am having trouble viewing topics which have 1000+ postings. I have cable modem so it is not a download issue. I try to view the "last uread" page and it displays no posts. it is difficult (impossible really) to view old topics like old city journals or large "show us your..." threads. is this a known issue or is something wrong on my end?

Yeah I'm not sure if the community knows this, but thanks to the new features in ST 5.0, the SHS is capable of directly uploading to the Omnibus. The trouble in 4.0 was that only admins could add articles to the Omnibus, and that took forever!

So... don't be discouraged if you tried to get an article onto the Omnibus with 4.0... the resources available to us with 5.0 have made the process much easier.

It did indeed.  It's sad but true:  on the old system, the admins were a bottleneck in terms of getting things onto the omnibus, just because of how things were set up.

Now, on the new system, it works much better.  The Help Squad is doing an excellent job of converting the old omnibus articles.   I think the procedures are worked out fairly well, with the senior editors checking everything before it gets moved into the omnibus.

There are many good tutorials, and other information, that would make great omnibus articles.  I look forward to many of them getting transferred in the coming months.

hi again everyone, I have another request if I may:

In addition to my review of City Life being added to the omnibus (link in sig) I was wondering if I could also have my short tutorial on Money Saving Tips added.  The topic kind of died a while ago when the disscussion turned to a philosophical debate about cheating but I think there are some pretty good tips there.

There are a number of tutorials included in my CJ, Three Rivers Region.  You are welcome to raid it for anything that you would like to have on the omnibus.  Consider this post to be blanket permission to do so- if you wait for me to get around to it...well, let's just say I operate somewhere between "turtle" speed and "pause."

Yes, we are in the process of looking over the forums for prospective tutorials for the omnibus.  If you or anyone else have some that you would like to submit though, either post it here or contact a team member.
