Hello City Builders,

I recently had a discussion with a friend that had a very big interest in Sim city but didnt feel that paying $10 extra for a "Deluxe" version was worth his money. Seeing how EA does not personally offer a $50 version of their game I did some looking around and found out that GameFanShop actually sells the game with out the Deluxe version. So for those of you that are tight on money and dont want to buy the deluxe version and would rather wait when you can gather more cash you are in luck. :)

Cya in the GAMES,

RedRobin

(Btw if any of you want to add me on friends to play co op I AM ALWAYS Down for some new friends :D)

Here is a Direct link to getting this game for $50.

These are simply announcements about the availability of the game. We really don't need a discussion on people's opinions on what's too expensive or what's not. Those who want to and can spend the money will. Those who don't or can't won't. It need not go any further.

If your buying in UK. I bought my copy for 33 quid from zavvi. They have a preorder discount most weeks which knock a further 10-20% off list price

This site seems to be selling digital downloads of Simcity (basic version without the Heroes addon) for £33.09, which I havent seen anywhere else, and the Limited Edition (with the Heroes addon) for £39.71. Neither of these are the Deluxe edition though. But nevertheless £33 for the game is good value indeed if you arent bothered about the pants sounding Heroes addon, and just want a digital download not a disk and box. Well I say good value, at over £30 its still more than the price of most new PC games! But Its certainly better value that the vastly overpriced £45 origin version.

Nope...Just bought the limited edition Physical copy from there for £33. Thanks for the link! Was never going to pay the £45 origin is asking for!

I am talking about GameFanShop not Zavvi here - I know about the Zavvi offer for a physical Limited Edition copy for £33 but that one takes 3-5 days for delivery. Whereas the GameFanShop one is an instant download Basic Edition  for £33. The best deal for a release day physical copy of the Limited Edition is Amazon, where you add 1st class delivery so it is received on the day of release and that costs £37.

Damn that's a good price, glad I cancelled my Origin pre-order; I'll probably by from here!

Oh okay.. I can wait though. Was going to wait months until they reduced the price anyway!

If you preorder and buy the Limited Edition game (Applies to both physical and digital) from Amazon you get the following preorder bonuses:

  • $20 Amazon credit to use on your next purchase
  • The Hero and Villain DLC set

EA did give all those who took part in the Beta a coupon for $50 off our next Origin purchase.

EA also regularly gives out 20%-25% off coupons for Origin.

So there is no reason why anyone on this board should be paying full price for either version of the game.

You dont get a credit on the UK Amazon site, dont know why not.

It sounds like Zavvi could be the best buy then if they despatch to get the game to you on release day and you get the limited edition box all for £33. I might have to go via them myself, but I am teetering towards waiting now till I read some reviews after release before I buy. I generally wait these days for new games - there are a lot of turkeys and you are never quite sure what i game is like unless its had a wide beta release these days.

I'm gunna wait for disk version :P

Does the boxed version have a paper manual does anyone know?

Theres little point in getting a boxed version if it doesnt come with a manual - unless you just want to have the box on your shelf or your broadband doesnt have the speed necessary for a fast download (unlikely if you are planning to play this game with its high internet connection requirement). Once the game has been installed onto Origin the disk will be useless no doubt (like all my Steam-managed boxed games are). I cant even delete games off my Steam account - they are on there permanently once you have bought them, all you can do is delete the local files from my computer if I don't want to play them anymore. I could probably chuck all my Steam games boxes and disks away for all the use they are now.

The last time I got a reasonable manual with a game was with Civilisation 4 if I remember correctly and that was unusual, even back then in 2005.

I have seen a paper strategy guide floating around Amazon, dont know whether its any good or not. That would seem to suggest no paper manual will be supplied with the game to me.

256kbps down and 64kbps up.

Those are K's. Not M's or G's.

That's like web-browsing Internet. And if the game were a 1gb download, it'd take over 4000 hours 11 hours (yea, 4000 seconds...) to download at 256kbps down.

I could be wrong, but I don't think $20 Amazon credit apply to digital download. I don't see it when I click pre order. am I doing something wrong?

I believe the $20 credit is for a physical disc only.

To emphasize my point, Yahoo.com is a 308kbps download every time you visit it.

Watching a video on YouTube or Netflix requires more bandwidth then what SimCity suggests as a minimum requirement.

You havent even clarified your point yet. Are you saying that is what the new Simcity requires for its online connection or something?

Who is "JoblessGamers"? When I visit the site listed in the OP, the "partner" code of JoblessGamers gets put into the URL. I don't really care if somebody would be getting a piece of the pie if I were to order something from that gamefanshop site but I'd like to know who they are.

Aha, I see. Would probably have been good form to at least mention it in the OP that it's an affiliate link. Oh well, I've already bought the game from Origin so the Jobless Ones will have to fend for themselves a bit longer.
