Some cell providers consider moving out of state in the U.S. to be roaming.  You have to consider how big a country the U.S. (and Canada for that matter) is.  I believe there are interstate charges.

I've been in the Midwest, South, East Coast, and West Coast and I have yet to be charged a dime for roaming.

 

In general, "roaming" is when you are traveling internationally or when you are "off network" (meaning your service is being provided by another company's network as part of a service agreement with your provider).  As Verizon and AT&T are the two main players in the US cell phone market, and both have coast-to-coast network coverage, roaming is something most American's don't think about anymore.

 

It is helpful to keep in mind that although cell phones interface with the landline telephone system, cell phone networks do not function the same way.  I have had two different cell phone numbers.  Neither was for the area code I lived in, and both were for area codes different than the area code where the number was activated.

It's pretty amazing how much the telephone industry has shifted over the last 10 - 15 years.  Cell phones were just beginning to make an appearance  while I was in College (remember long distance calling cards?).  By the time I finished in 2002, it seems nearly everybody had a flip phone.  Now I can't go anywhere without seeing people memorized by the glow of their smart phone.

My flight got cancelled, so I had to wake up at 5 AM Eastern and get to the plane in Philadelphia at 7:40. After a 5 hour plane ride, went to San Diego and had to go right to the San Diego Padres game at Petco Park in downtown San Diego. Quite a busy day. But it's Southern California. The weather's been nice.

I've been offline for the summer as I settled into my cabin. I have been busy this summer working on projects for my boyfriend and fishing and swimming. I'm back for the fall and winter. I needed the break.

Hmm. Aint not sure about this but I won't be online starting Monday (March 3) until March 16. I have some final exams to attend to. After which will be a long summer vacation which I will all bother you everyday.

Something went wrong that basically prevented me from using my graphics card (I use Boot Camp on a Mac, so the installation is a bit strange). Like, I went to Device Manager and Display Adapters was missing completely. It was complicated and several things were attempted to no success. But I'm better now.
