Dev. Tester Here....

While improvements have been made to SimCity (2013) since the closed beta test, there are still a lot of issues that I feel should be resolved. With less than 1 month left until release I'm hoping most of the minor issues will be fixed but I feel its far too late for major issues to be fixed like tile size.

If you have a minor concern about something in the game, let me know and I'll test it out in the Dev. Beta and forward my findings to the developers. I can't legally say much other that I'm playing the Dev. Beta (at this time anyway) so I'll let you know now that my feedback on your concerns will be limited or nonexistent.

I want SimCity (2013) to be as good as it can be and I can't think of every aspect of the game to improve by myself.

"While improvements have been made to SimCity (2013) since the closed beta test,"huh? what improvments?

He's saying that he's a closed beta tester, who's violating his NDA. Any bets on how long until a banning?

Well, technically he's breaking the NDA. He's just asking if you had any concerns or problems with the public beta, so he can test them out in the Dev Beta and see if they are still present and send the report to Maxis. I see no step where the NDA is being broken here...

I'd say the beta feedback on this site has been overwhelmingly negative. Fans have clearly stated why they are disappointed and what changes they would like to see in the final game. However, there hasn't been a single response from EA - quite disturbing I'd say, given the extremely loyal and talented fan community. The bulldozer EA is marching ahead. Fans in the way - beware! In any case, it is unrealistic to assume EA would be able to implement the crucial changes us fans want to see in the remaining 2 weeks until they have to start shipping the product.

If I don't feel like the map size or always-online gameplay is game-breaking, does that somehow make me a non-fan of the SimCity series?

lol, I wouldn't be posting this if it was violating the rules. I'm allowed by the EULA to tell you that I'm in it, but I can't really say much more than that. If I, for instance, leaked screenshots or game footage that would be a no-no. :P

I've actually found quite the opposite. Maxis has been very vocal in staying in communication with the community. An example, have you seen their Twitter accounts recently? They're responding to questions and concerns all the time!

Anyways with all that fluff out of the way, let's get back on topic. I've already made a submission about this at the SimCity Reddit during ST's downtime and even Maxis took notice. Have a look to see if your concerns are listed there.

I'm still concerned for the lack of "filler" in this game. Something to fill in the open nasty spots that come between apartments and skyscrapers next to a road. This brown/grass spots looks really bad.

I wish I was able to fill it up with concrete or something to make it look more like the building was properly built and planned next to the road

Or maybe some grass that matches that of mansions and houses, since right now it looks really nasty. Making parks even, with it's darker green compared to that of the terrain, it actually makes putting parks down make the city look WORSE >.<

Yes..that only here and other un-official forums (which is made by more hardcore fans and gamers).  In the official one there´s full of spoiled kids fighting for online mode and as much DLCs EA can produce... so, in one side we have the community that is doing that negative feedback and other, doing exactly the opposite in the official forums, which one do you think EA/Maxis will do more attention?

According to Ocean Quigley, the zoning toll is being worked on to address this and other concerns brought up from the closed beta.

I really think that there should be filler parks for "open paved area" and open grass area in the least. I also wished for a return of the zoning style from the early dev videos, especially if the player could choose how far back the zone reached (2 or 3 depths).

Smaller/cheaper parks seem to have a small zone of influence whereas lager/more expensive parks have a larger radius. I don't know the answer to the second part of your question and even if I did I don't think I could say lol.

Ya I used to make huge park complexes in SC3000 and SC4. Problem is now each park needs a road connection.

Yes... Apparently it has to with Glassbox. For example if there's a fire at a park there's access for fire trucks. It's something we'll have to get used to.

Since they animated every single sim in this game, don't they have hoses, fire helicopters and firemen .. who can walk or just "teleport"?

I hope you dont think im talking about like that zoning and how that looks (Like the strategy video one) I'm talking about those spots where there is nothing between the roads and buildings. I'd want concrete there if there is a massive skyscraper, not brown and green

    # Intercity road connections under the control of player. Remember those large Highways from SC4?

    # Variation in city sizes, or be able to buy extra nearby region (from God?) with Simoleons.

    # Ability to chose the landscape to start a city from a given region.

I don't see why this thread has to be ripped, it's not Haljackey's fault.  The beta was a beta, and they'd be downright foolish not to make improvements.  Let's assume that they are making improvements as we speak.

Anyway, Haljackey, I'm wondering if the issue of glitchy intersection textures has been fixed?  I had heard rumors that they were a little off, and although it may seem minor, I'd like to hope that they had fixed that for the final release of a game so anticipated as this.

It wasn't minor it was major. Flickering intersection graphics with overlaying roadways, I.E. walkways going through highways. It was terrible looking. What was confusing was how it even made it into beta.

As stated in the original post, this is not the place to express comments about standard major game features that more than likely won't be addressed prior to release. There are numerous topics dedicated to such issues. Let's keep this on track by adhering to the topic's purpose. Some editing/removal of off-topic comments has been done.

    1. Each city will have fixed road and rail connections to inter-regional highways and railways.

    2. This is a major issue. City sizes will not change... It's been mentioned by developers such as Ocean Quigley several times.

    3. The landscape of each city tile is unique.

    Hope these help!

Anyway, Haljackey, I'm wondering if the issue of glitchy intersection textures has been fixed?  I had heard rumors that they were a little off, and although it may seem minor, I'd like to hope that they had fixed that for the final release of a game so anticipated as this.

This is something that is being worked on. Road junctions and zoning problems were among the most reported concerns during the closed beta. Can't comment on the progress of these however.

I didn't like how cars would not move out the way for emergency vehicles..... did they fix that?

It seems to be a problem associated with Glassbox. From what I read, it doesn't look like this will be changed before release.

Can they change it so that the people aren't twice the size of the cars? I don't know why anyone hasn't brought this up, but when I played the beta there were cars parked in peoples driveways and the people on the street were twice the size of the car...

SC4 had the exact same problem.  A sim was 3 meters tall in SC4, or something like that.

If pedestrians were a realistic size, they would be more difficult to spot. Also, Glassbox displays what's on each Sim's mind so it may be a drawback to the simulation engine as well.

I've edited the title of this thread to try and make this thread more on-topic... Let's see if that works. :P

What about traffic getting backed up forever? I am not sure exactly what caused it, some people claimed it was sims crossing the road in my game it was building trucks halfway in a lot and halfway in the road... Has there been any headway in this department?

Well if you're referring to the closed beta test, note that high-capacity roads and mass transit like streetcars were not available. Traffic congestion can be eased with these enhancements.

Also, I for one like to see traffic congestion... I'm so used to seeing cars just vanish in SC4. :P
