No Lighting on Downloaded SkyScrapers

Hi, I've downloaded many Skyscrapers to my Plugins folder and have them working in the game. However when i switch to night mode there are no lights on them. All maxi building light up but not the downloads.

I've always downloaded the maxi night version when the option was available. Please help, Cheers

You will need to install the night light fix for custom buildings (BATs).

To do this, you will first need to make sure your game is updated. Go to your game's installation directory, usually:

C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe

Right click on "SimCity 4.exe", then click Properties > Details tab. In that table there is a line that says File Version. Assuming you have SimCity 4 Rush Hour / Deluxe Edition (which is needed for most custom content to work nowadays), the required version is:

1.1.638.0. (if so, skip to step 2).

1. If your version does not match this, you will need to apply the official update available here:

[Link] (follow download instructions on page, choosing the correct version depending on your region).

2. Once you have confirmed that version 1.1.638.0. is installed, the night light fix can be applied:

SC4Update4BAT.zip

After applying this update, the night lights on custom buildings should then work. Also, the game's version should be updated to: 1.1.640.0.

DarkNite buildings generally are optimised for use with SimFox's To use them, you will first need download and install the mod.

The difference between MaxisNite and DarkNite is how buildings are rendered in the game. DarkNite gives a more realistic appearance when viewing cities at night, and also enhanced contrast levels in the day. A batter will sometimes provide both a MaxisNite and DarkNite version of their BAT, for users with and without the mod. The same BAT night light fix is still required.

I've had the problem of no lights for AGES, could never find a way to fix it and it put me off the idea of darknite and all of that. But as I'm trying to get back into SC4, that update link has just saved my life. SO GLAD!

After updating to both updates and darknight  modd I still don't have night lights

If your game edition is at 1,1,640 you will get nightlights.  It takes a while sometimes.  To really check this out, turn off the day/night cycle by pressing F6 (sets permanent night) and wait.  I don't use the dark night mod because I like the full moon view.  A review:

I installed the patch however my .exe file version stayed 1.1.610.0 and did not change to 1.1.638.0. How can I fix this?

This is a very old thread that hasn't been used in a year or so.  I suggest you start a new one.

You problem needs some further analysis because you haven't given enough information.

610 is indeed the north American edition of the game (Deluxe).  Did you install it in default (on the C: drive)?  Or for that matter are you running Windows? and if so, what version?

If you installed from a CD, where did you get it?  If you didn't install this from a CD, it is illegal and we can't help you.

If you installed a no-CD patch, then the checksums are wrong, and the updates won't work.  You'll have to install from scratch without the bogus patch.

Since there is a problem with Windows 10 not being able to run the CD security system, all things being equal you would be better off to purchase a new copy of the integrated game from a non-DRM vendor such as GamersGate, GOG, or Amazon.  This version (641) is fully patched and runs without an optical drive.
