A few months ago, I stopped coming to ST. I've been a member here for well over 2 years, and I remember this place in some of its earliest days. I'm not sure if anyone remembers me anymore, but if you do, I hope you will appreciate this post. ST has been great to me, but all good things have to come to an end sometime or another, and I think it's time I moved on from ST.

I would have posted a thread like this when I first left, but I'll admit that I was bitter at some members and just didn't feel like coming here again. I'd like to say sorry now to everyone for not announcing my departure from this site.

I've come back to post this thread now because I just think it's the right thing to do. I'd rather not leave everyone hanging on whether I'm still here or not. I'm fully aware of the Leaving/Returning thread, but from what I've seen in that thread, it is more geared towards leaving for vacations and such, so I hope this thread in this forum is not a problem.

I've changed a lot recently, and so has this site. I'm doing other things now and spending less time at the computer, and I just don't have the time or desire to put as much effort into the game as I used to.

That being said, I'd like to thank all of the mods and admins, especially dirk, as he is, after all, the dirktator. I'd also like to thank all of the members of this site, for supporting my many CJs over the years and my maps in more recent times. It's been a blast, and it couldn't have been what it was without all of these great members here.

One of these days I may decide to come back and maybe update my CJ, or something like that. I'm not sure if I will ever post here frequently again, but I think a visit every once in a while is definately a possiblily.

Again, I'd like to thank everyone for making this place such a blast. Thanks, and bye.

Sorry to see you go, Comdude. I joined Simtrop just a few months after you (though I was an unregistered lurker for several months before that), and I still remember Ocean Cove Palm Shores region.

Really sad to see you go, especially since we have been losing so many of our veterans lately, but if you gotta go, you gotta go.

As for me, I will be here for a while still, so whenever you come back to visit, drop me a line.

Dude...how could I ever forget you? Awesome CJer, fantastic mapmaker, and one of my best friends, it's sad to see you go, although I had already known like 2 months ago. Anyways, good to see that you'll still pop in here. I would've probably left for good too if I hadn't gotten such a strong response in my very own goodbye thread. And plus, I've made a lot of friends here, including yourself. Man, we've both changed for the better I think, and been through a lot together, hopefully you'll keep in touch. Too many memories have been shaped for you to completely let go.

LOL there is no need to officially leave Simtrop. You can always become less active.

 

I dont know what problems you had with members, but you should never let that bother you. There are always many more members who like and respect you. So whoever gave you trouble, forget them and ignore them.  

 

But anyway good luck man. You have been a great member. If you ever need help with anything ask.

Wow.. seeing so many people leave (anicca) I for one, am hopelessly addicted.

I hardly ever play, but visit Simtropolis all of the time.. lurking. Hiding in the shadows..

Simtropolis is entering its long slumber before Simcity 5. We certainly can't blame you for leaving, but check in now and then! Lurk without posting. Simtropolis is only partially about simcity. Its main functionn is in networking the like-minded simcity-heads, attracted to the game concept like moths to light.

Anyways, thankyou Comdude for contributing so much. Your presence will be missed.

I am also moving along with my life and leaving Simtropolis. I have not been by here for a week and well I am leaving not becasue of anyone here but REAL LIFE is more important. I am no longer offering support for my files.

 

I am sorry for leaving so quickly.

good luck with whatever path life takes you on. As a semi-inactive member such as myself, it is sad to see some of the old timers leave and others that are middle-agers such as com leave. We will all miss you but hope to see you return someday.... possibly with Spore or SC5???

It's been a few months since I posted this thread, but I knew I'd be back to visit sometime.

First of all, let me thank everyone for their great posts in this thread. It's been really good and feels great to see the amount of support I've recieved in this thread.

Upon my return, I noticed that I have recently recieved none other than a 2005 Trixie! Seeing the trixie was a great surprise for me. The Trixie I recieved was for my map, Coastal Highlands, as best playable map. I'm honored and flattered to recieve this award, so I'm extending a big thank you to everyone who voted for/nominated it for the trixie. In addition, I was pleased to see that I was nominated for best city planner, another surprise.

As for my CJ, Ocean Point, I will try to get out an update within the next couple of days. I've taken a look at the CJ section and wow, there is some amazing new stuff there. Ocean Point hit its peak many long months ago, and I use an old-school approach with it that I've been using since I started my first CJ over 2 and a half years ago, so I don't expect it to ever be what it once was again; however, if any followers of it are still around, look out for a new update.

In addition, I may make more maps if I have the time. Mapmaking is a lot fun for me, and the occasional map is not out of the question.

So while I don't think I'll become active here again, I do plan to continue to keep my word by coming back for visits every once in a while, visits like this one. Thanks again for the support everyone.
