I really, REALLY have to start coming in here more often (time is my nemesis i swear). Some of these pictures are just incredible, you have colour contrasts down to an artform dude! damn! I once considered BATting a huge celtic warrior to overlook New Rhodesia, a looong time ago. I may have to depending on how well you BAT looks in game, because in GMAX it already looks superb.

I will definately be coming back soon. =D

    Update 28 "Rivenfjord"

    Hello everyone.

This update I will introduce you to the new town (well.. it's more like a village at the moment) of Rivenfjord located just south of Sleepy Bay and west of Spencerville. As you know I have been working on a couple of BATs and, although complete, will NOT appear in this update. I'm still thinking of a good area to place them. Next update hopefully I'll have then in place..

This first pic is an updated region view...(just press the thumbnail)

    macedonmosaicupdate6ho.th.jpg

    A new town begins...

    rivenfjorddec70111511908970rp.jpg

Lets continue the highway from Sleepy Bay...

I want to create a little sunken highway...

The finished result.. At least finished for the time being...

    More will be added shortly...

Time to add some retail shops and pubs...

    rivenfjordmar190511512075945dv.jpg

    and some parking...

    rivenfjordmar270511512084076rv.jpg

We now need a residential area...

    How about a public school...

    Hey sorchin,

Really beautiful update! Great job on the sunken highway pieces! And your residential area looks so happy and quaint nestled in and around that stream - really nice touch there.

And that first terrain shot looks really incredible! Just a beautiful space to work in!

Looking forward to the next update!

    owenluby: Thanks my friend
Kwakelaar: Thanks buddy. The sidewalk MODD is jeronij's. It can be found here.
Nik-nik: Hey buddy. Good to hear from you again. It's been a long time. I believe they are landmarks. They don't supply any jobs that I can remember.  There looks to be either a restaraunt of some kind on the bottom floors and either business or apartments above.  Not sure though.43.gif
Yoman3; Hey buddy. Thats a trademark of mine. I like to show everyone what I'm attempting to accomplish before I do.
Darmok: Hey John, Generally what I like to do is build up businesses and attractions BEFORE residential. I find it's easier that way. A bit unorthodox I know..43.gif
kant01: Hey mate. Nice to see ya. Thanks so much44.gif
ThomasAH: Hello and welcome to my cj mate.  Thank you...
Jacky: Thaks as always for your great support my friend...

Update 29 Building a bridge and adding some statues...
    macedonasorchincj2wx.gif

Hello everyone. For the last two weeks or so I have been working on a few "extender" BATS. These are BAT props that extend beyond the tiles they are put on. It started out for me just as a little experiment but quicky turned into something much more challenging than I orriginally thought. I still have a couple of touchups (mainly with getting them to light up), but otherwise are finished. You'll see one of them in this update with hopefully an updated (properly lighted) version in the next update46.gif
Lets start with creating a simple NAM bridge...
    bridgeearlystart1gf.jpg

I want to place it just before the higway bridge... But first I'll add the statues...
    bridgestart8uo.jpg

    Now the bridge... Start...
    bridgestart13jp.jpg

    and...
    bridgestart29in.jpg

    continued...
    bridgestart30im.jpg

Lets add some mmore bridge walls without flora...
    bridgefinishnoflora0ee.jpg

    Now with flora trees...
    finalstatue4az.jpg
And at night... notice how one of the statues light up but the other doesn't? This is what I need to fix. There is a bug in the BAT program that has been there for a long time that Maxis never bothered to fix. Props are very hard to light up and "extender props" are even harder. With the help of Pegasus I might have fixed the problem, or at least made it much less of a problem. We'll see47.gif
    statuenight2ay.jpg

    Anyway.. Here is another pic..
    finalstatueangle29ho.jpg

Here is a panned out view of the two statues "guarding" the south side of the sunken highway...
    pannout2statues8iu.jpg
Two more "guarding" the north side...
    pannout4statues0aq.jpg

    Another pic...
    statuesfinished9ku.jpg

    A panned out night pic...
    pannoutnight1zd.jpg

To further illustrate my point with the lighting of props. Here is a pic..
    rivenfjordsep231311515331503dn.jpg

Some light up, some don't.. Hopefully it will be resoulved shortly...
Take care for now everyone.. I hope to have time to visit your journals over the weekend. Thanks again for your great support my friends...

    Great work Steve,

That idea of having two guardians at the entrance of the highway reminds me of the Argonaths!

    Update 30 Part 1 Dedicated to Yoman3

    macedonasorchincj2wx.gif

This is a two part update of a lush park area in Rivenfjord. I spent far too long getting the bridge puzzle pieces to line up perfectly to of had time to complete the entire park this update. So keep in mind this update is in two parts.. Thanks..

I got the lights to work perfectly now with the small statues. So I'm happy with that...

    updatedsmallstatues9zn.jpg

    Anyway. On to THIS update..

This is the area I will use for the Park...

    start18ds.jpg

Time to terraform...I used the grid to give you an idea of the size of the area...

    Hi Steve,

    Very nice update

Those rapids are very nice. I also like that new bridge you' ve made it yourself?

The green in the concrete walls is a bit too green for my taste. Maybe you could opt for the greenish Jeronij concrete walls to make the green brushes less floating on the concrete?

I am off on holiday to Denmark. See ya in 2-3 weeks time.

6.gif6.gif  I think that park deserves not one but two "wow" smileys!  Stunning update you've got there sorchin, that's not only one of the most beautiful parks that I've ever seen, but also one of the most creative.  I really like all the foliage that you used along the streams and on the reataining walls.  Also, those bridges are ingenious and in my opinion your hard work payed off because their visual effect is incredible (especially with the bridge over the waterfall).  Again, stunning work, I can't wait to see this park completed 10.gif!

Great use of your statues, and thanks for your link I have completely overlooked this mod.

About the lighting of props I get the same problems sometimes, there doesn't seem to be any logic to it, but if you are able to find a fix for it that is really wonderful.
