Well, the Nor'easter hitting the east coast is not at all funny.  It is like a hurricane without the cyclonic storm.  Very bad conditons.  Merry Christmas from mother nature.

Here is it -5C with mist and overcast.  Wind chill -11.  Winds at 10Km/h WSW so the low is approaching.

There is a low moving in from the west causing snow falls to the north and rain to the south.  Apparently we are in for a green New Year as things have already started to thaw.  I expect it will be a sloppy week end.

After a month with temperatures under 0°C, it's getting warmer.

Current temperature is 2°C, and there's light rain.

It was quite the storm alright, winds reached around 60-65 here on Long Island, and most areas in general recorded snowfall totals around 12-24 inches with some areas hitting close to or above 30 inches.  The winds made this particular storm more memorable than any Nor'Easter ( it was in all sense of the word a true blizzard ) with the exception of the March 2010 Nor'Easter ( which didn't dump snow, but bought heavy rain and hurricane force winds ).

2010 has been quite a destructive year for the northeast and mid atlantic states.  I think I'm one of the many who are finally happy to see it come to a close.

Temperatures have actually warmed up nicely, around the mid-upper 30's and should be in the low-mid 40's over the weekend.  Quite a welcome contrast, especially when some streets still haven't been plowed ( NYC residential neighborhoods especially ).  There are streets where you couldn't get any vehicle down them ( emergency equipment in particular suffered from this ), as a result there have been some deaths due to the storm ( including a newborn infant ).

I hate losing snow before we should due to unseasonally high temps. Its winter and I want snow on the ground constantly between mid December and mid March. It seems like this happens about every year though. Right now its about 37 degrees and tomorrow, new years eve, it will be about 45 degrees for the high and 35 for the low, WOW!!!

6ºC here, overcast, clear.  It was foggy earlier, but that has dissipated with the change in temperature.  Snow is melting, but there is still lots around.  Streets and parking lots are wet and/or slushy.  Wind is South 15 Km/h. (just a little over 8 Knots).

London is reporting 9ºC, overcase, mist patches, winds WSW 11 Knots.

^In Norway, doing my military service in inner Troms, just north of the Arctic circle. No sun from mid October to mid February, but on the other hand, sun won't go down between May and August. This is easily one of the most remote places in Europe (after inner Finmark, which is even further north).

The weather has calmed now, though. After a few windy days with temperatures about -10C, it has stabilized on -12 the past couple of days.

Overcast, clear, bright, -5ºC.  It snowed here about 6 cm on Friday and it stayed.  Overall accumulated snow now is around 10 - 12 cm.  We are heading into a high, so I hope it will clear up.  It was sunny this morning when I got up.

Clear and sunny with a few clouds as expected.  Temperature -5ºC at this hour.

Let us nod our heads for the people of Atlantic city who got 15 cm of snow.  Let this be a warner for those who would be warned.  The higher temperature of the ocean is puting more moisture into the air.

Just to link you guys up, this is the place where the most up-to-date information will be posted live - http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/floodrelief/flood-info-centre-updates-reports-warnings-advice-and-how-you-can-help/story-fn7ik2te-1225985436806

The Courier Mail website (Courier Mail is the main newspaper for Queensland) also has good coverage.

I live in the southern suburbs of Brisbane amongst the little hills. The creeks around here are actually quite low at the moment, though ain't no doubt they'll be breaking their banks and going the highest over I've ever seen in my life. Thankfully enough school won't start for the year until 2 weeks time, so no worries about that (my school is built just beside a creek down the road from our house). I'm hoping to go as close to the river as possible as I can either tomorrow or Thursday (it's not said that Thursday it will peak at 4.2m, which is bad flooding for the river), and I'll see if I can get some pictures to show you guys. I'm only 17 so these will be the worst floods I will ever see in my life so far. This is also some of the craziest weather I've ever known of here in SE QLD (with our storms, their severity and strangeness is just now normal for me). It's in the middle of Summer, it's 25C (though I love that, I hate hot and humid weather) and raining constantly for days. Anyway, it does seem quite chaotic, I've got a few friends on Facebook near the Brisbane River our out west having to evacuate. The shops today were quite crowded in places, especially around the TV screens, and shopping centres have been closing early due to staff needing to get home.

It just feels really weird though. I would've never thought to see the day when the city, and especially the Myer Centre, close down due to flooding. I've seen pictures of the 1974 floods (river level at 6.6m), but I have never imagined of seeing something like that again, yet tomorrow and Thursday seem to be it (they're expecting the rain to hopefully ease tomorrow to a few showers).

@ Cockatoo - Do you live on the north side? I heard the north side had some thunder this morning. Only after lunch have we got thunder here.

-6C here, damp with a slight wind.  Went shopping this morning dressed in my usual double layer of fleeces, but it was not enough.  The wind was enough to make it feel very cold.  Overcast, clear.

Sorry to hear about the spring floods in Queensland.  Come to think of it, I guess it is summer there now.
