SPAM and High-rises - Is there a conflict?

I have a quick question:

I'm starting a new region with the SPAM installed, and read about it changing desirabiiity factors.

So, if I play that region with SPAM, will the chances of me getting high-rises decrease?

I understand that the agriculture demand is kept high so it will be for as long I want, but could a region with some towers be developed?

Thanks,

Guy

The SPAM has no negative effect whatsoever on your commercial demand, caps, and desirability compared to the default maxis farms. You will actually probably notice your commercial demand levels increase faster using the SPAM, because the SPAM takes into account the jobs from the field tiles in the demand and cap calculations, whereas vanilla fields generated and filled jobs, but didn't account for those in the jobs totals and demand formulas.

Thanks Blunder! You helped a lot, since I started to fear whether to use the SPAM or not -- And I love it so much!

Btw, you inspired me to create MMP nature and thank you for that...

And without some of the SPAM add-ons, you will find that farms cut off somewhere around 30,000 pop. Remember that farms are a land bank for the rest of the city and can be absorbed ad lib.

    Sure thing! and thanks GR.

This is true, but i must caution that in my experience it's not 30,000 population but 30,000 occupancy. This means that if you have a lesser population like, say 15,000, but place a lot of parks/plaza's or other lot's that are modded to satisfy demand, that you will reach the 'kill switch' point early. So bottom line, pop your farms FIRST. Having grown SPAM farms just sitting there doesn't hurt anything.

I too use lots of BAT farms as well as standard agriculture in all my cities especially on medium tiles as the tile fills i'll use up the horizontal agriculture for more residential and commercial space and replace it with sky farms- all the while keeping the BAT farms to vary my sims diets.

I find just using skyfarms on the 1x1 tiles saves a lot of space which can be used for other things, as with the larger tiles i'll start with some fields and steadily give them up for extra living space, the spam is SO usefull; it increases demand ,gives loads of jobs and keeps the advisors quiet, i only wish i could do something about industry, last three cities i've had to plop rather than grow and thats with the demand doubler in place!

Well, I use SPAM farms exclusively. They are enough, and supply some amusement in the game. PEG and the other teams doing this kind of theme work are pretty thorough. A small tile full of SPAM farms and a few other quaint buildings makes a very nice farming tile.
