Hello guys many thanks for the kind comments! My apologies for not replying sooner but I've been having horrendous problems with my internet connection!  It's been very frustrating recently.

 

Utora - water inlets: I planned them to look the way they did before building, but I didn't plan them to have the function they do now. I modelled the region loosely on central London - River Hex is similarly-shaped to River Thames and the inlets of which you speak are modelled on and area around the docklands. If you check a map you may see what I mean. I wanted to use these areas as an inner-city port and industrial wasteland, which could then be left to rot for a while before being regenerated, the way in which the real London Docklands has: www.london-docklands.co.uk   I created them in god-mode zoomed in really close and levelled the edges really carefully. Although, as you see with the water flora mod - I didn't quite flatten the beds as well!!!!!!  I would be chuffed to see Matt's creations elsewhere - it was only after he started doing them that I realised how much they add to a CJ - and I certainly wouldn't want a great journal like yours to miss out. I would LOVE to see Amsterdam Arena on the STEX - or any other exchange - but I would especially love to see Carrow Road, home of Norwich City (see link in sig) on there. If I get clever one day and have time to work out the BAT, I may try it. I would also love to see other great stadiums like Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu, San Siro in Milan, Rome Stadio Olimpico, Olympiastadion Munich, and Nou Camp in Barcelona. So, to all you BAT-ters out there......
Finally, specs - mine are not close to yours - I have Athlon or Duron (can't remember which) 1800, 512 Mb DDR RAM, not sure about the rest! So, you could probably make a region the size of the real Holland if you wanted......!  Thanks for visiting.

 

Matt - I like to spring surprises every now and then, keeps things interesting...... I probably get so much traffic because Maidenwell has about 480,000 population and only thin strips of land to commute. Also, about 20,000+ jobs in the other two buildings on Corporation Wharf. But, I think that stairway gives your HQ pride of place - remember: quality, not quantity.  Re my power situation, I have made a simple little spreadsheet to ensure I don't get cataclysmic power failures......

Dark Avatar - I kind of have a loose plan but just build whatever the wind carries me too, so to speak. I'm glad you like it, although I am beginning to feel that it's losing some of it's European-like design.

 

nooneatall - With all these other people demanding Matt's services and him being based in Norwich, maybe I'm due a small commission fee for each sign he makes outside Norwich. What do you think?

Another great update, and another great stadium with the translucent roof. Where did that come from? I don't see it in the STEX.

Someone is working on the Bernabeau in the Madrid w2w thread; they are pretty far along, so it could be out soon.

I know they are down the table at the moment, but I've seen about 2.5 NCFC games (only watched half the MU game), and I think they can stay up. They played MU and Arsenal tough, just need to do it for 90 minutes and they'll be fine.

Footie - we have had a tough start to the season - next three are Spurs away, Villa home, and Liverpool away........easy! I think if I was a bookie I'd stop accepting bets on Arsenal to win the title - they are miles ahead of everyone - Chelski included.

Ring Road Project - Phase 7 - Kelseyheath

 

Hello folks and welcome to the latest instalment of Norwich's brief but eventful history. Tonight we are in the borough of Kelseyheath, directly south of Central Norwich. Two transport pics from where we left the borough.....

The City Of Norwich Redevelopment Investment Program have invested a huge amount of money on a themed attraction - but not the usual type of attraction. The Medieval Experience allows people from the modern world to become totally immersed in the life and times of people from our bygone years.....

 

People enter here at the main gate, which acts as a guardhouse also. So, shine the armour, sharpen your blade and stop molesting the servant girls. On the door is etched Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.....

 

 

Beyond the entryway are some homes belonging to wealthy landowners and villagers. Servant or Master, which would you choose? Or, maybe a Shoppekeeper. The village store is the white-walled building here.....

 

 

Be a stableboy and take care of the Master's horses.....

 

 

Break your back picking wild berries from the field. Or, if that doesn't appeal, you could always choose to chop firewood in the ample forests nearby.....

 

 

Try to drag an ox-drawn plough around a field. Farming old-style.....

 

 

Get your mud and disease-ridden water here. It makes the experience so much more realistic.....

 

 

Be a manservant or a maid for a day in one of the many homes.....

 

 

Spend your weeks doing dodgy deals on your corn and chicken stocks and try to become the wealthiest villager.....

 

 

More opportunities for depravity and corruption.....

Yes, I've got Matt working hard again. Cheers Matt! Next here is Barton Hatch Rovers Football Club, together with a monument commemorating Sir Alf Ramsey. The triangular building is the headquarters of the Football Association.....

 

 

Sir Alf Ramsey:

 

Sir Alfred Ernest Ramsey (born January 22, 1920 in Dagenham, Essex; died April 28, 1999 in Ipswich, Suffolk) was a footballer and manager of the English national football team from 1963 to 1974. His greatest achievement was winning the 1966 World Cup with England on July 30, 1966. They also reached the quarter-final stage in the 1970 World Cup under his management. He was knighted in 1970.

Having been a gifted amateur as a pupil and as a player for his army regiment, he played for Southampton 1943-1949 (since 1944 as a professional) and Tottenham Hotspur after that. He was very successful with the Spurs (right-back in more than 250 cup and league games) and in 1953 became player of the English national team which he captained three times. His coolness and capability for analysis earned him the nickname The General. He retired from playing in 1955 to become manager of Ipswich Town, which he managed very successfully leading it from Third Division South to Football League champions.

He was made England manager in 1963, predicting that England would win the 1966 World Cup which it did by beating West Germany 4-2 in the finals. England lost to the same opponent at the next World Cup in the quarter-final after having led 2-0 with twenty minutes remaining. Part of the blame was put on Sir Alf's cautious tactics. He was sacked in 1974, after England failed to qualify for the World Cup tournament of that year.

The last stages of his career were caretaker manager with Birmingham City F.C. and technical advisor to Panathinaikos 1979-1980.

Ocean's 27 - also known as True Blue's nightclub. Other, slightly seedier nightclubs have appeared in the area also.....

Wow! what a massive update! This was definitely worth waiting for!

I love the Medieval Experience! However, I do have some minor suggestions: it might be an idea to change the Jenx-base/overlay textures to grass or something green: I think that would fit in better into the overall design of the landscape.

That nightview of the CBD (if that's what it is) is stunning! I saw some reddish triangular highrises: love them! As usual your highway layout is again impressive, as well as Matt's roadsigning job!

Idea: in my own journal, I usually brighten up the nightview pictures a bit in Irfanview: makes it more pleasing to the eye so to speak (just a little more brightness and a little more blue)

But, in the end I have no right of speaking of course, this update is awesome!

My last visit to Norwich has been quite a while back, and it's amazing. Norwich really has it all, your journal has become so detailed.

 

The ringroad project is something I've been planning to do as well - for a long time, and I still haven't found the time. Somehow, you just seem to do everything I plan to do, but you just do it so much faster -- and bigger. - You seem to have virtually every skyscraper you can get...

 

One question, no, two: AMG Multiplex Cinema - is this the triangular, creme coloured building? And what's that brownish field (first field shown under Medieval Experience)?

Nijntje123 - Thank you very much for the kind compliment, as well as the bunnies. Ps. don't worry about your English - I'm unsure as to where you're from - an educated guess would be Holland (or maybe not so educated....). I often find that people from Holland, Belgium and Scandinavia speak much better English than most English people. Tragic really but that's the way it is.

 

Utora - Welcome back to Norwich my friend! The pathways in the Medieval Experience are by suico and are on the STEX. They don't fit in with exactly what I was looking for - it would've been great to find some sort of dirt track/road pack to do the job - maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places..... Thanks for the great comment and encouragement - re Irfanview: I just use Irfanview to convert file type to jpeg. I'm not very advanced with such programs and didn't realise you could do this, I'll look into it. Thanks!

 

MrCinatit - Thank you. I suddenly had a flash of inspiration sitting at work one day (yes, that's how exciting work is) that they would all fit together and create something a bit different.....

 

Dannato - The ring road project has been a long, LONG project - I'm just eager to finish the last bit off and maybe start doing things a bit more freely-willed than having to stick to a strict plan. AMG Cinema - yes, this is the building you refer to. It is Cinedom by bandito and is available here....

Mattc005 - First, thanks again for those signs. All these compliments x 100000?! I'm honoured!!! I think I have had a few unique ideas, I've never looked at another CJ and said I'll do that in Norwich, although often I have used ideas given to me by others, yourself included. But, my limited imagination is running out, it has to be said. NLR, I didn't think I would be able to do this due to the building around Central Norwich, but I saw in another CJ something that I didn't realise - you can run monorail through tunnels!!!!!!! There may be an opportunity or two to expand it inwards, but it would be a huge project in itself to do this with regards to demolishon of areas and working it around existing areas without losing too much valuable real estate, and, also of course making it an effective means of transport in Central Norwich. Thanks for the bunnies and have some bounced back with interest for the signs......

Get Out The Wooly Hats And Rattles - The Simtropolis Football League Returns!!!

 

Yes folks, it's back! After last season's league was won by giant's Norwich City - Norwich residents have been eagerly awaiting for the start of the new season. And it's been made even more exciting by

the fact that the number of league members has jumped from just 5 to 12!!!! Every established football club in Norwich has been admitted to this year's competition - giving all of Norwich's 3.1

million residents their own home-town club. Here is the list of fixtures for each team to compete during the six-month long season. First of all, Barton Hatch Rovers, who completed their new stadium

in Kelseyheath with just days to spare before the entry deadline. They face a tough start to the season with three of the league's better sides in their first four fixtures.....

Next is Bradwell, from the heart of the Docklands, veterans of last year's competition. They have a seemingly straight-forward start to the season, their first really difficult fixture coming away to

Norwich City on October 23rd.....

Now to one of the favourites - Clarendon Athletic. Unlucky to miss out on last year's title, they will fancy their chances at finishing above Norwich City this season.....

Now to East Statham, from Stathamstow. They have an even more daunting start than Barton Hatch Rovers, with the three top teams facing them in the first three games.....

Maidenwell, who play at Riverside Stadium, are new but they have received huge investment from business moguls in the Docklands. They are fancied by many to be strong contenders and have an early chance to gauge themselves against Norwich City and Clarendon Athletic, their two biggest rivals.....

Now, champions Norwich City start with a trip to the most unfashionable club in the league - Parkstone Rangers. The first derby with their Central Norwich rivals United is at the Olympic

Stadium on 6th November.....

Norwich United face a difficult trip to Clarendon to start with but it gets better before the trip to bitter rivals City.....

Parkstone Rangers, from the borough of Clarendon, would have felt the stomachs churning when the fixture computer crunched out their first match in the league - Norwich City! They also have a

difficult December, with three consecultive away matches - a happy Christmas.....?

Pentney, from Oakhill, will be pleased that their fixture list might allow them to amass a few points before they start playing the big boys at the end of October and November, but the down side

is that toward the end of the season, when points will be precious, they face a really tough run-in.....

Salham, from Kelseyheath, were one of the strugglers last season, but will hope to use their experience and remain in a comfortable league position this time around.....

Stokesbury United have also received investment, a more modest amount than Maidenwell, and should therefore stay comfortably clear of the bottom end of the league.....

The entry of Swanton, from Thistlehurst, ensures that all nine Norwich boroughs are represented. Swanton are expected to struggle against the top sides but will hope to get enough points from the

teams around the to stay clear of the bottom.....
