Radical Maxis Re-Lots (Beta-0.2)

Dependencies : bldgprop_vol1.dat, bldgprop_vol2.dat

Radical Maxis Re-Lots is an attempt to modify all Maxis lots, growable and ploppable, to appear more realistic and more detailed. Features including alleyways for most lots, accessible parking, and Uniform Street Light Mod-compatible lightpole layout.

* Please note that the only completed collection of lots are R$ and CS$. CO$$ has some stages (that is stages 2, 3, 4, 5) completed, while the rest contained has a minimal collection of lots.

These pictures are only a small part of my growing 'Maxis radical relot' set.

My aim is to re'lot' Maxis growables without using dependancies and without going too far from the 'Maxis' feel.

    I am completing all lots for R$ first. Why? These lots will be the first constructed when you start building your city.

    Completed Growth Stages:

    Good job! Just to make sure, are you taking Maxis' building families into account? You know, on one and the same lot you will often see different buildings, depending on which tileset is activated. These buildings tend to have similar dimensions and outlines, but still there are differences.

    Thank you. Got any critiques for my relots? :golly:

    I derive two inspirations for my R$ relots.

    For all R$ houses, I get my inspiration from slums. The Maxis lots are unrealistic, since poor people don't have the financial means to own large tracts lo land and even pave their own backyards.

    For all R$ apartments, tenements and skyscrapers, I derive my inspiration from public houses in Malaysia and United Kingdom, as well as mass housing plans of Le Corbusier.

    I like the Bennet relotting, but the gates/walls at the edges look more suited to a mansion and not an office building. This is a great idea for a project...

    This looks really good! I like what you did with the R§ buildings, and I also like how all lots look halfways logical - with parking lots actually accessible and so on.

    I agree with madhatter about the Bennett re-lot. Keep it up! Oh, and don't do industrial yet. ;)

    As of Thursday, work still in progress. Progress this week is very good.

    I'm satisfied with my first relot (actually, took two tries for this) Maxis flea market. You can compare the differences between the design of lots for yourself.

    This is a really great idea! I've been hoping someone would re-lot the Maxis lots. The BATs are pretty good, but the lotting... not so much.

    Your projects are looking really good. I hope to see more. :)

    Well, as of now, I can't figure out how to re-lot these industrial lots, although I have some vague ideas on how It should look like. As soon as I finish all the residential and commercial lots, I will start thinking about those lots.

    For now, the project lives on as I work on mid-rise commercial lots.

    Really digging the relots, the layout of the parking lots make so much more sense, as does sidewalks, etc. Really like what you did with the R$ buildings, those look much better. :)

    Finally, all CS$ lots have been completed. Whew! :D

    I've considered uploading a demo version containing all of my completed lots to STEX so that you can enjoy it (and possibly give some critiques on my lot designs). What do you think? :golly:

    If you want to release a beta version for testing by the players, I think it's better (if possible) to attach it at a new post in this topic. Uploading it into the STEX will receive plenty of complains from people who will refuse to read even a single paragraph.

    Mithrik : Thank you for your interest in an open beta! I think I will publish an open beta when I finished R$ and some stages of CO$$ lots.

    Work in progress. Back to R$ again. Seeing most of R$ lots have been re-lotted, I should finish the remaining few of the lots (all of them residential towers).
