Do you think that they will still have cars disappearing to no where like the previous versions in the next simcity?

I hope that they can have the cars park in the driveways and also if they go to work or to a business to buy something, they park their car in the parking lot.

Cars won't disappear from roads. As far as I know they can park within lots, and it will be visible to the player. Though the animation I saw was only a prototype, so the cars behaved in an awkward fashion, hopefully devs will work more on it. Same concept goes for pedestrians.

I believe it was mentioned in the Reddit article that that was one of the issues they intended to fix. They also mentioned wanting players to be able to understand the underlying logic behind the game instead of it just being a mystery. But I believe the disappearing cars was a technical limitation at the time SC4 was released.

Fortunately for you (and all of us), cars will not randomly disappear because cars will be agents carrying real resources (including workers) and will drive into the lots instead just being a statistical representation of traffic on a road. Is that not wonderful?

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Yes indeed, that will be a welcome change I think. I hope they can pull it off properly.

I seem to remember Moneycristo telling people that in CXL the cars would not just disappear either, and that they all had a starting and ending place, yet strangely enough, many of us witnessed cars still disappearing in the middle of a road somewhere where there was no business for a citizen to be. Obviously Maxis is not Moneycristo but still... I hope that Maxis can pull it off properly. I think it was one of the more annoying aspects in SC4 (at least to me and the few friends that I have that play SC4).

City Life had individually tracked citizens and early Cities Unlimited data did as well but Cities XL ended up dumbing down the system.

Also, cars during the CXL 2009 beta didn't disappear.

I must admit I always hated when cars disappeared for no reason, at the moment I'm playing Cities in Motion and I thought all cars had a destination and wouldn't just disappear, but I was wrong.

99.9% of the cars have a starting and end point and get there but I noticed yesterday when the traffic came to a standstill, a car disappeared.

I had tram lines on the road and a tram tried to turn right but a car slipped past it just before and couldn't go any further, because the tram was in the way, all traffic stopped.

I was looking at the screen for a minute or two without any traffic going anywhere and thought I need to get rid of the tram, when the offending car suddenly disappeared and the traffic started to flow again.

I must admit in situations like that I don't mind, it's rather niffty.

It makes far more sense to ask a question like this in one of the SimCity 4 forums.
