I have a quick questions that, in all likelyhood, has been addressed in the past, but, so as not to go through 31 full pages, I'll type my questions here at the end.

First, is a specific question about a lot. NOB's A-Bomb Dome says that Mr. Ragutaro's Inuyama Castle needs to be downloaded for the A-Bomb Dome to work. Is the A-Bomb Dome (the original, not the newer, skeleton version) dependent on the entire Inuyama Castle lot, or is it just dependent on Mr. Ragutaro's props, which are available on his site?

My second question deals with the properties of the Japanese lots. Is it possible to access the lots via their model file and create new desc files (and change the lot's names/costs etc) through the plug-in manager? I recall reading something about the ilive reader, but I am not at all familiar with that (and I am familiar with the Plug-in Manager).

I can't answer Q1 as I haven't d\l'd it.

EDIT:: Sorry, I do have the earlier dome and it appears OK in game with only the HaS props.dat.

The Model & Desc files are the same as any other and can be edited via iLive Reader or Datgen and I would think with Plugin Manager. If you are editing an LTEXT file in an exemplar, you must use Datgen (Thanks to Andreas for that info.)

Does anyone know where to get the temple shown here? The picture is from J.O.'s city journal GEB

It almost looks more Korean than Japanese... but it isn't on the STEX as far as I can tell. It is similar to, but distinctly different from Kimdomyung's Korean lots found here on Simtropolis.... so asking here seems to be my best bet... anyone have any ideas?

To be more precise, it IS the Kunjungjon, but in a different lot. I used Daeley's Ninja Tax Collectors as the lot for it, but make sure you got the Kunjungjon from simcity.com otherwise all you will get is the ever-common present box

Thanks, Eddiem, for introducing all that stuff for us. Somy says on his site that he's thinking of redoing his famous commercial fishing port. Those are the fishing boat models.

Here are some new things.

First, Alias/Kaminko has made the ruins of a Mayan temple. Go to his page and click on the pictures.
maya.jpg

Next, NOB has created a family of CS$ lots that will overwrite some in the game. These lots are recreations of traditional Japanese shops like you might find in old towns in Japan popular with tourists. The shops are vegetables, tofu, Western confectionery, fish, and sushi, respectively. For those of you with technical knowledge of the game, this set uses instance numbers 0xd0000001, 0xd0000002, and 0xd0000010, and is a 1x1 and 2x1 family. Download here .
machiya.jpg

Someone called 211naoya created a special transit enabled lot with two one way streets, in the form of a brick texture, on either side of train tracks. Download here .
1.jpg

In addition to the F-14s that were introduced earlier, SNZ has also created some F/A-18C Hornet props. Get them here .

Those F-14s and F-18s could use a little more color or texture, but all-in-all, they look nice. Are there any other military planes?

Both of these links lead to an error Forbidden page. My guess is, that the folder where these files reside has not been made public.

I suggest that you right-click and save target as... to download. I had no problems when I did that.

Good luck.

If you d\l'd the shops on the 7th or 8th, the shopfront model files were missing. NOB says he's sorry and has now re-uploaded,same link.

Thanks Armandeus. I spent ages on Japanese websites looking for info on thatched houses. I was also looking at Shibuya station in Tokyo which has a very similar dog story to one from my home city of Edinburgh.

Post it on his bulletin board on his site, here .

Eddiem, you're welcome, but those shops by NOB aren't thatched, they have ceramic-like tiles on the roofs. You can find an example of a thatched roof house at the bottom of this page . Modern houses in Japan don't have thatched roofs, of course. Maybe you're talking about Kaminko's BAT - but then you were the one who introduced it here for us.

APTX has recreated the Daimaru dept. store in Shinsaibashi, Osaka . It is 7x5 and employs 1800. Get it here .
daimaru.jpg

Raika has created a 4 storey apartment building similar to the type built in the 80s in Japan. It's growable, 2x2, and each houses 89. Get it here .
lot01-1.jpg

Kei and others are working on a Japanese style set (they are planning to overwrite the New York set), and here's a page with pictures of some of the buildings. There is nothing to download yet, but some lots were featured in the past. Here is a page in Japanese detailing what they plan to overwrite with what. Use your favorite online translation service to translate it.

You don't need to register.
The first field is for your name (anything you want). The second, e-mail (optional), the third a URL (optional), the fourth, your message title, the fifth, a password you make up so you can edit or delete your message (you can have a different password for each message), and the last is for your message text. The two buttons below that field are submit and redo.
