Great tour! But I am exhausted from the bike trip. I need a limo to take me back to the hotel... preferably a limo with a bike rack! :ducky:

    Hey Godfather!

I've been watching the entire 2nd page of your CJ, and the more I watch your work the more I think that there are a lot of things to learn from all mates of Simtroplis, cinluding you: good 'making off' of your industrial area on a swampy ground, the tunnels and transportation system... But it's always great to see all those sea walls... They look very realistic. Now that your city is growing little by little is good to see how good is improving... Congratulations!

Odors enter my nose as I walk along the stands.

The suns shines on my head and colours the world in red.

I sit down at the café and see the trains come along.

    station2.png

I never actually used railways in SC4 but the more railways and maps I saw in other CJs the more I wanted to have them too, this is the very first start, more to follow…

Great tour! But I am exhausted from the bike trip. I need a limo to take me back to the hotel... preferably a limo with a bike rack! :duck:

@Schulmanator: Thanks! We will continue the tour soon so I hope you have found some breath by then ;)

Neat bike paths. Maybe I haven't been paying much attention, but I don't remember seeing a bike path network in a CJ before.

@Benedict: Thank you, I have neither seen any biking networks. Where I’m from they are very common and really a part of the road system.

@: Hey, Simplemente! I’m very glad you liked it, I keep on approving. I agree with you, there are a lot of things to learn from every single CJ.

Yay Bike tours! Might as well fix the flag counter

@ 111222333444: More to bike tours to follow :D… I tried to fix it but it didn’t work :(

Great work considering you don't have Rush Hour! Reminds me of my years in Holland... only you have more hills.

@ a_muses: Thanks for your compliment! I indeed base a lot of things on where I live. No hills at all can be very boring, I live on the sea floor, and it’s really something we miss around here.

Very nice work and pictures. It looks like a great place to live, so open and green with a lot of water.

Those green retaining walls look really good as well. Where did you find them?

Your previous update was great, I love all the detail you put in to laying out the canals.

Your teaser is very good, one of the best edited pictures I've seen from you!

I also look forward to seeing your rail ways.

    From “Biking Tour I”

Your bike network rocks... nice work!

@Shanemelbourne: Thanks, I’m glad you like it!

    From “Station Square”

Intriguing, look forward to more... :)

@Sim_Link: Thank you! More will follow certainly ;)

Very nice work and pictures. It looks like a great place to live, so open and green with a lot of water. Those green retaining walls look really good as well. Where did you find them

@Rewright: Thank you, that’s exactly what I’m trying to create :D They are part of the Japanese walls set, I reLOTed them, as all the props won’t work for me. You can find them here:

@Fox: Thanks a lot, I’m learning how GIMP works every day a little more :) I’ll start wih the railways soon!

Ture is actually one of the oldest cities in my region. It was built on a lot of sometimes very steep hills. This caused the city to have a lot of retaining walls and bumpy roads. For this reason I never showcased the city ever before.

Last week I started to rebuild a large area of Ture. Many of the hills were halved, but I remained most of them since they are a part of the “identity” of the city. But still, the biggest part look like this: (this is one of the best looking neighbourhoods)

    1-5.jpg

Enough history for today! This update I’ll be showing the first rebuilded area. We follow the Ture Ring Road, to specific the southern part, which follows the B11

The southern Ring Road starts at the exit of the A1, which caries the Northern Ring Road.

    6-2.jpg

I wouldn’t be able to make the signage in this update without the many post of Mrtnrln in the “Show us your signage” thread.

    1-4.jpg

From the road is a part of Tuur Banks National Forest very good visible. In the deep is the river Tuur.

    7-1.jpg

The B11 takes a deep dive to the Westerbrug (Western Bridge).

    8-1.jpg

The south bank of the Tuur has a more suburban setting.

    9-1.jpg

Soon we’ll pass the very first exit.

    4-2.jpg

    10-1.jpg

The exit is right after the tunnel

    5-2.jpg

    11-1.jpg

    12-1.jpg

    13-1.jpg

    To be continued…

I hope you liked it, please let me know :)

Thanks everyone for the massive reply on last update, it means a lot to me :golly:

    From “Old” CJ section:

That ring road looks really great! :) Good job I must say!

@Hampi: Thank you! I was happy how it turned out, I’m glad you like it too :D

Very nice ring road, it looks amazing. :)

@City_Master: Thanks, once I’m finished building I’ll show the second part!

Lovely update, I like the ring road is so curvy, and smooth hilly. Looks good! :)

@Sim_link: That’s what I tried to achieve, I’m glad it did. The next part will be even more curvy and hilly, so stay tuned!

Your road signs are very realistic! Nice job.

@SimCiug: Thanks a lot, they’re based off Mrtnrln’s signs so I must give some sort of credit to him.

Hey it's been a long time since your last update! And here it is! Nice pictures, as always, but here's my advice: please dont let the motorways 'eat' all these beautiful green landscape!

@Simplemente: Well it’s been a little over a week, but I’ve been realy busy (why is everybody born in April?). Motorways are necessary for a big city, but don’t worry there’s plenty off green space in and around the city, check today’s update for instance…

    From the “New” CJ section

I was thinking of doing something like this in my cities, I would suggest connecting the one way streets to an avenue when they are going to intersect with another road, I'm not sure if you're as anal as I am about having only intersection as opposed to 2. Just a thought

@Alexander.Tooke: Good to see someone with the same thoughts! I don’t have Rush Hour, so I can’t do that :( Do you have a CJ, I’m curious how it would turn out.

Why, Heimen?! Whyyyyy?!! Why do you have to have such a brilliant CJ and not get much attention?! WHYYYYYYYYY??!!

@Ggamgus: Hahaha, I’l take that as a huge compliment :) I actually think I got quite some attention on last update.

    Lots of roads!

@Elavery: Indeed, a big city needs a lot of roads!

Nice work! And your signs are AWESOME!!!

@Schulmanator: Thanks! I’m improving the signs, next update ou can expect more…

Not bad, but I'd highly suggest using avenues instead.

@Riiga: Unfortunately I don’t have Rush Hour, so I’ll I have to do it with this. I’m glad you liked it :)

It’s a well built transportation network, and the roads signs you drew are very creative :)

I think it might be interesting if maybe the road needed a capacity upgrade and you could try out the RHW mod

@Timoman: If I’d get my hands on Ruh Hour one day I would certainly do that! Thanks for the compliments!

Brilliant and unique placing of lots!

@Residentsim: Thank you! Lately I gor more and more aware of the “filler lots” (I believe they’re called like that) I’m happy they turned out well :D

How do you make those transitions from normal height to sunken height using those digging lots?

@Coffianapolister: I’m not sure what you mean, I just used mayor mode god terraforming, you can look for it in the STEX.

    banner-2.jpg

Simplemente said: “…but here's my advice: please dont let the motorways 'eat' all these beautiful green landscape!”

This gave me an idea, I never actually showed you Heimen’s nature before. Most of Heimen is very sparsely populated, actually only 22,9 inhabitants/sqKm (59,4/sqMi). This leaves plenty of room for nature. Especially in the north there are areas where not ever a human being has been.

Let this be a start of some sort of series where we’ll visit some of the most scenic nature in Heimen.

    Eskintuna.png

Eskintuna NP is located in (surpise, surprise) the province of Eskintuna ( more info in the Heimen wiki page), located on the North East coast of Heimen. The picture is crossed by a scenic road and a scenic trails and it shows “Storra Klippan” (Large Cliffs) where the land suddenly ends at the sea.

I recommend having a look in full resolution

    EskintunaII.png

I hope you liked it, please comment if you did or how I can improve my work :)

    Replies from “Eskintuna National Park”

    From the “old” CJ section:

Awesome update, love the peaceful greenery of it all.

@Fox: Thanks! That’s what I tried to make it like.

    From the “new” CJ section:

Cool update, and love the wiki links.

@Fox: Antoher comment? I like that! I have the wiki links to provide information for the ones interested, so I won’t bore all the others ;) I’m glad you like them

    dislike ..... dis i like :)

@Kakado_to_save: Huh? You confuse me :) So I guess you liked it? If so thanks!

Nice update. At first I thuoght it said Eskilstuna wich is a small city in sweden. There's a big and famous zoo there too. Anyway nice one.

@Sucram17: I’ve looked up Eskiltuna and I found out I’ve actually been there once on holiday! The north of Heimen is somewhat inspired by Norway and Sweden, so I probably named the NP unconsciously that way :D I’m happy that you liked the update!

Nothing below excellent. Great work, vivapanda! :D

    @Ggamgus: Thank you so much!

Awesome! Great stuff! And great graphics!

@Schulmanator: Thank you! I took me a while to get it in this resolution :)

I see why such territory must be reserved , it's too gorgeous to fall under the hands of civilization...

@ 10000000000000: Thanks! If more countries on earth thought this way…

    Great cliffs!

@SimCoug: Thank you, I just got that rock mod, its Dogfight’s, from the BSC file exchange I believe.

If I was driving on this beautiful landscape I could get distracted and fall off the cliffs .. hahaha :D, great picture ! :)

@Paulmc: Hahaha, thanks a lot! I guess you should rather take the walking path instead!

Wow ! Now that's some scenic landscaping.. The only improvement I could suggest would be more , more, more !

@Jetty Jockey: Thanks! There will sure be more soon, so stay tuned!

Hello all! Recently I showed you a picture of the very first station in Heimen: Bijsterveld Central Station (the one below). I finished the first couple of kilometres of rail line recently so I can show them to you. Today we will travel over the Ture Rail Line, which connects the city Of Bijsterveld to the City of Ture. You might now Ture already from the Ture Ring Road I’ve showcased here. Well on to the update!

    station2.png

Slowly the train leaves from Bijsterveld-Centraal

    1-6.jpg

Soon we’re already in the suburban neighbourhoods.

    10-2.jpg

We pass the first station Bijsterveld-Buitendyk, a commuter station. Many trains pass along but we have a stop.

    11-2.jpg

The station used to be on the outskirts of the city, but new development has surrounded the station.

    12-2.jpg

And soon we leave again. We pass under one of the mayor roads leading out of Bijsterveld into the Central Heimen Farmlands.

    13-2.jpg

The rail makes a wide turn and goes under the Bijsterveld Orbital Highway

    14-2.jpg

The area around here is very calm and hilly, the trains cut straight trough the hills.

    15-1.jpg

    16.jpg

(Just imagine that this part is a little smoother)

    18.jpg

We enter the first station of Ture: Ture-Westerhoek

    19.jpg

The map of the “entire” railway system in Heimen. It’s not much yet, but I guess it will be nice to see it evolve. The Heimic railways are operated by HKS, which is short for “Royal Heimic Railways”

    kaart-1.png

I hope you liked it, please leave a comment if you have time :)

That's a clever idea with the bikepaths between the roads. :) I like it!

@Jack3oh3: I place a lot of biking paths between my roads, it creates nice wide, green avenues.

Still looking good. Great stuff again :D

@Schulmanator: Thanks a lot, I’m happy you still enjoy it!

very nice and calm train ride, i like it! That last picture looks really nice, the tunnels, the station, the parks and the units make it feel really real.

    great work :)

@City_master: Thanks! That picture is my favourite too :)

As I said over in the CJ section .. Nice update and love the rail tunnel under the road.

@Fox: Great to see another comment from you!

I love how your tracks cut through the hillside - very realistic detail.

@Simcoug: I liked how the straight hills made a big contrast with the smooth hills too :)

Wow more exciting updates! And I could see who inspired you to do your roadtour in the April 15 update

@Nathanthemayor: Thank you! Haha you can? :P

    From the “new’ Cj section

Another great update! I really love that rail tunnel that passes under the road in the 6th picture.

@Fox : Thanks a lot! The road going over the rail line is one of the main roads heading out of the city.

Very nice. Ever consider using the Fractional Angle Rail (FARR) sets to avoid the zig-zags ?

@Jetty Jockey: Thanks! I do not have Rush Hour, so that won’t go :(

need to report this entry to Simtropolis. There's a one-star button here! There should only be a five-star button on this CJ!!!!!!!!!!

    @Ggamgus: Thank you so much!

    bannerfiq.jpg

Photobucket blocked my pictures of last updates :( I’ll probably fix that some time.

Real life has been really busy, so only a quick update today.

The Oortsweeghe Synthesis Radio Telescope (OSRT) is an aperture synthesis interferometer near Oortsweeghe, Middelheimen. It consists of a linear array of 5 antennas on a North-South line, located on Arden Hill. The telescope was completed in 1973 and underwent a major upgrade between 1998-2003.

Next week I’ll be having holiday on Malta, so no update then. Comments are really appreciated, so please leave on if you have time :D

    @Sumul8ter8: Thanks, they’re fixed now.

    Love the little satelite dishes.

    Nice!

Amazing job, as always. 5/5, as always. Hehe, but I don't think you should use Photobucket. It has a lot of problems, so you should use Flickr. Flickr never gave me any problems before. But again, excellent job! :)
