There really is a lot more work behind a picture then you might think. It is good to leT everyone look behind the scenes every now and then!

    Hey all,

Before you ask, this CJ isn't dead at all, I'm just trying to think something through here:

The two large tiles that I already have development on are fine as they are, but all the surrounding tiles are also large, which creates issues for the road intersections and such. What I want to know is whether there is a way I can change the config.bmp without losing the terrain on the undeveloped tiles; the others are fine and don't need adjusting. As soon as I get this sorted I'll get an update out :ohyes:

    Cheers, DanniBee

Emperordaniel: It’s one of the street FLUPs that comes with the latest NAM I think, thanks for commenting!

    Skyscraper241: Thank you

Kakado_to_save: All in good time Kaka, all in good time ;)

    Vlasky: Thanks!

Adooxx: Thanks, attention to detail is key

Packersfan: Yeah, it does look good as that and as dirt paths too, shame it is rather large though

Emmotic: Thanks, the tunnel is a street FLUP as I have said before :P

    Rewright: Thank you!

QuantumEagle: ...and even later in replying, thanks! :3

Jotauveefe: Señor Javier, I’m afraid the buildings will be a little while yet D:

    Mastof: Thanks!

Samerton: Hope you get better soon friend, and maybe you could use this in North Wales!

    Har_fea: Thank you!

Aliasrm13: I’m looking forward to it, thanks!

    Benedict: Thank you once again!

Vivapanda: Yup, there is a lot of work behind the scenes so to speak...

Thanks for the replies peoples :3

Well, once again I have dropped off the earth for a good month and a half due to the fact that I haven't got much done yet again. This is a combination of being lazy and busy, not really a good trait if you want to make a decent CJ

:P I've mainly been drawing out a new config for the region to save on CPU strain and make things join up better; large tiles are a pain to work with once they get developed. I've also started to actually make some farmland around the town, which is what you will predominantly see in today's update, so without further ado...

    a347_day_tiltshiftish.jpg

A nice little country scene here, typical of rural England with the hedgerows and disused gates. I was trying to play around with effects here, I think it came out relatively well. This is also the old main road north out of town, before they built the massive 7 mile A338 bypass which cuts like a grey dagger across the countryside.

    meley_fisrt_school_sc4_comparsion_.jpg

This is some of the custom lotting I was talking about earlier that I had done. This is just a local school on the other side of town with a small community centre beneath it, not much to say really...

    merley_school_compariosn.jpg

Here is the real deal, it matches up rather well although the SC4 school is a little big. I'm fairly happy with how this came out although the road parallel needs to be stepped better and have more trees alongside, which I will eventually edit. Real life looks a little greener, and the scale does seem a bit off too, hmm :uhm:

    parley_cross.jpg

Here is the A347 meeting with the B703, or more commonly known as 'that road that goes around the airport'. It's a rather large capacity junction due to amount of heavy agricultural traffic that passes through here and airport freight too!

    parley_crossreal.jpg

Once again, a real picture of the area so you can all see what I'm trying to achieve here :P

    region_view_new_.jpg

And to nicely finish this short update off, here's an updated region shot. Not much is new except from a few new roads to the north and me trying to find the right terrain mod, I'm currently split between Italia and Meadowshire, this is such a hard decision compared to anything else in the world :P.

Well uh, that's about it for today, I'll try to keep this CJ a little more active but I can't guarantee anything, procrastination is an evil thing. But I've now got a task set clearly in my head so I know which direction this CJ is taking.

Until next time, thank you for viewing!

I would love to cynical but I can't. When I can't do that, you know you've done well. They're helluva accurate, well done.

You'll find being lazy is common among cj authors. Just look at me :P

Smashing good job. It's like I'm really there. Considering I have no clue where Bournemouth is, that's a real feat XD

Recreating a real-world city in SC4 is no easy task, but you've done very well here.

    - "No, you're not bothered because you're 15 years old and you don't even know where Bristol is!"

Great work here Dan, I really like how accurate your recreation is, from the general street layout down to the trees and whatnot. I would love to see the stepped road there as FAR but I see why you don't use it, things tend to get even more complicated than they already are with it, especially in an urban setting.
