Looks good to me! And as far as parking access goes - Portland has a lot of buildings like these.

Thank you very much, I love your HK BATs ^_^

Something about the bottom row of windows bugs me. I don't know if they are too wide, or too close to the ground, or what. Perhaps a google search on "office ground floor" or something of the sort will better inform the design choice. Right now, they don't quite ring true or believable, and I can't put my finger on it. Also, think about what is on the ground floor at that area of the building...is it the front lobby extending that far back? Is it a hallway near the elevators?

I agree with you here to be honest. I'm finding it difficult to get a good arrangement of windows on the part of the building. The combinations I have tried thus far all result in looking a bit "off". I guess an excessively extensive Google search is order.

    Update of Homebase:

Will probably place some stalls behind the glass area at the front. Will probably also make some poster props for the walls (similar to the Google maps images)

The model looks good, but I'm wondering If there are two floors Why does the upper floor only have three panels? Also what type of textures are you using for the first and second floor walls?

At your first question, I'm not sure to be honest, when I'm in the area I shall pop in and have a look.

And your third question: the textures I'm using are the ones you see in the render. The top part copies the panelling-like walls on the RL building. The bottom uses a generic concrete wall texture.

Hmm, I thought Homebase stores usually had 1 floor? Apart from that, it's a good start :)

yes, i think it's just one floor too.

here's the night shot so far:

    73244Untitled-1.png

will add posts around the edge near the entrance (possibly as props)

The final lot may come in 4x2 size, but to keep it true to life a 5x2 lot would be needed. Should I fit it into a 3x3, go with the 4x2 or the 5x2 (or several of these)?

I think your roof texture could go a little more dirty - compare it to Maxis rooftops, or others in your plugins folder - I think you'll find that the roof is really bright and really clean looking.

On the nightshot, it seems a bit strange that there is a ton of light flooding out from the two sides, but there's a huge dark shadow in front. When clearly there should be some light flooding or bouncing forward, because there's a huge bank of windows in front. It just doesn't look/seem right.

GOOD TEXTURES ARE MADE, NOT FOUND.

ok, thanks, 'hatter. Also regarding the night problem - this is because of the displays which are behind the window. Perhaps i should remove them/reduce the number of them? Or even perhaps - seeing as homebase would not be open at the hours SC goes into night - not have night lighting at all?

Looks good except I don't understand what that white/grey thing that juts out is for? o.O It doesn't look right to me. Post some pictures of the real life building or at least the building you got inspiration from.

Also ,If the building is supposed to be 2 floors high (or at least the equivalent of 2 floors high), then your building looks under scale. Just compare it with the surrounding Maxis buildings. Judging the size of the Homebase near me, It'd be twice the size ;)

This building is almost total replica of a real life building. here's the link to the post with all the references: LINK

I did some measurement approximations using google maps from different angles to be sure, and also I visited the building too, so I'm fairly sure the height is correct.

Have you stretch the model 133% on the z-scale before exporting? I also don't like how the textures look too soft and bright...as Madhatter suggested compare them to Maxis.

    I think you getting there!
