What a nice little place, kinda looks like my development, minus the cliffs and apartments.

While I was working on rebuilding my city, I found this image of a unintentional suburb.. and I had to post it... what do you think?

Finally I got some pics of my new, developing, L.A. - style region. Actually this is only one city (North Beach City), but I hope it's good enough.

image0001kk3.jpg

This is the main suburban development of North Beach, with a central avenue and some commercial development. Palm trees line the avenue.

image0002vx0.jpg

(Sorry about the size) - Here is a larger overview of the central development. Houses are squished together, a railroad runs through the city, and yes, more palm trees.

image0003ux7.jpg

And here's a nice closeup. The development south of the avenue is obviously wealthier than the development north of it. I just love these palm trees! They have such an L.A. feel to them. I think later on I added another road to the northern development, so this actually becomes a 4-way intersection.

Lastly here's a larger overview. If I had more time I would've added some pics of the highway with... (you guessed it) ...palm trees! The highway actually runs across the region from east to west, all along the beach. As you can see there is strong industrial development south of the highway, and lots of open space. I am planning to fill the north western area wih more residential nighborhoods and some commercial zones, and fill the rest of the southern area with industires.

That's a great water mod and the suburbs look fantastic. Looks very realistic. Great use of maxis too.

Great job, but the big construction project looks a bit out of place.

Residents of a quiet, established neighborhood on their way to work on a Monday morning.  Another week has begun for them.

Yea, your right. That looks better when the town expands.

Well, here are 4 pictures of suburban sprawl in my town, Modesto.

Might as well throw in one of my suburbs picture, a slightly  poorer neighborhood though.

Wow that looks like there are homes not near streets. Don't you get a zot for that?

These are threetiled zones deep that grow with doublerow homes on the left and two tiles deep on the right. It only looks weird, kinda like it though.

I'm surprised why people sometimes feel "ashamed" of posting pictures of poorer neighborhoods. I love building ghetto-like cities!

Anyways, cool suburbs everyone! I took a 3-day trip to D.C. to get my city-fix, and now I'm back at home in the suburbs. It's amazing how suburbs and urbs contrast.

You should plant some trees on these lots if you want them to be more real looking, because richer suburbs always have quite a few trees (it somehow goes along with that society)........

The homes do look very sterile, and I've planted trees in similar areas. But I just got the lots to grow a few months ago (game time), and trees usually don't grow that fast 4.gif. Although when the trees grow, Maxis lots can still look bare.

Too bad the SAM doesn't allow street props currently...maybe network lots will be made better in next release, because I do miss the palm trees. It would probably be a matter of copying and pasting properties, but I don't like to mess with transit exemplars.

Clicking on the sun in your bottom left corner of the toolbar and holding the alt+ctrl+shift key will bring up the godmode, there you can plant lotsa trees without any cost, or use the Majortrees.

I recommend Godiva's tropical tree set. You can plant single palm, coconut and mangrove trees that look great, especcially lining highways.
