The No Dilapidation Abandonment Modd - Now Available

There are some fairly radical modds that are NOW Available 9.gif 
 
- no-dilapidation abandonment building modd (doesn't prevent abandonment but preserves the building in its pristine condition for 180 years). During that time, the building will re-use if the demand is present.
- no -power line modd (a single point of power will fill your whole city with power)
- no -water pipe modd (a single point of water source will fill your whole city with water, forget about laying pipes)
- no traffic pollution modd (the elusive traffic pollution property has been found and turned off)
 
Lets hear your thoughts on these radical modds. If they are too radical, we will keep them on the shelf 3.gif

they sound pretty radical..and sound like they just might have some homes in my plugin folder.
just one insanly stupid question...the no dilapidation building modd - will it just make the buildings appear to not be empty, or will they forever be full?

Anyway you could add a Traffic Pollution slider to Traffic Cop ? I would only be interested in lowering the auto pollution .
 
Good work in finding that one though.

How about a Res Plop building fix?  Currently, they wont send out cars, even if they manage to stay full.

i do like the no water pipes mod. perfect for rural areas where everyone is on their own seperate well.

is it gonna be like place one piece, fixed cost, and everyone gets a drink or say: one piece, cost fluctuates based on water consumed by all buildings ?

I agree with DT... people who choose to live in the heart of a big city aren't the least bit concerned with traffic noise.  In fact, (maybe this is just me) I actually enjoy it - something wouldn't feel right without it.
 
I am super excited about the no water-pipes mod... I am so sick of laying down plumbing!!!!

I've been waiting for a traffic pollution ordinance. Maybe this will be it.
 
I also support the no traffic noise mod or make the sims like it. When staying in big cities I don't find it to be a bad thing.20.gif

    Notice the Ionizer in the corner which provides power and hydro to the test city. Basically to test, the city is quickly grown and road access is severed after year 02. No car Zots appeared immediately...

    16 years later (year 18), the No Car Zots are still showing, Queries shows that the buildings have been abandoned due to commute time (but the building shows no signs of dilapidation)

    Definitely radical!!! 9.gif and it seems that it may be too radical for release 3.gif (kinda ruins the game doesn't it?)

    i may have to lpok into some of these radical ordinance mods just to see what my cities would look like with them...

    I'd love to see a no traffic pollution mod, my cities end up getting low desirability from this problem i suspect, and my large cities die....so this would be fantastic, also, great idea for the power and water mods. Would save alot of time, aswell as the suggestion for the trffic noise one.

    Too radical for me. This would be no fun for my use, however there are 30,000 plus people out here. Some of them will either enjoy them, or use them and find they don't enjoy, but all can at least learn something from them, so I vote to upload with warnings.

    hmmm... the no power and water lines might be interesting.  IF... do you still need to supply an adequate source of each?  I mean, does this basically just change the distance that these items can reach, without the addtional building of infrastructure?  If so, this isn't a bad idea.  Most larger sities have all power and plumbing below ground, and this simulates that.  Just changes the steps in getting it.

    i do not like the idea of the no dilapidation mod. how would you know then, if your buildings are empty? your population would be half the size that it could be, and you would not even know it.

    Hi,

    I think the traffic pollution modd is HUGE!!!!!!!!!

    bldg dilapidation biggest thing causing that is commute time, might take away from the challenges of the game.

    The water and power ones make things easier, save time but aren't those things important from a managing standpoint.

    Radical Dude, Like totally.

    Seriously, There are some radical mods which are nice, however, there are times when they are not so nice.

    I like laying pipe - Maybe I am one of the weird ones, but I can have some control over wealth districts by the laying and non-laying of pipe.

    Electric lines, I have gotten into the habit of laying in power corridors, these are usually rail & blacktop road with power line in between, followed by a 3 finger salute to God mode to lay in a thick layer of trees.

    Traffic Pollution: it is a pain and a drain on my city resources. I dearly wish that Mono-Rail would be electric instead of coal burning, or what ever that makes it so polluting. Auto pollution is bad too.

    If you can say make a cut in the auto pollution (to more manageable levels, say a Clean Air Act that effects cars), and widen the area of influence of electric and water. Electric doesn't make sense with the freeways, I'm constantly having to plop something to jump power over freeways.

    Will I use the Radical mod? Sure, if nothing else is offered between the limits of Factory settings and this mod - But, if there is anything offered such as parks which directly affect car pollution, or a mod that cuts the use of pipes in halve, or an electric mod that gives me 12 to 20 tiles between buildings for electricity - I would be more inclined to use those.

    Can the no-dilapidation mod be set to JUST show dilapidation due to abandonment? I'd prefer to see if my buildings are abandoned, but I'm getting tired of seeing them go ugly just because the building's wealth level dropped from R$$$ to R$$.

    As for the others, I'll use them. Laying pipe is a pain, and having powerlines is just ugly. I'd still run them in the more rural areas, just to look realistic.

    I agree with the others who want to see Traffic Noise addressed.
    Release all the modds and let us decide to use them or store them. I have an Stored Plug-ins folder that I use to move the modds into that I don't want to use at a particular time. When I want them I move them back into the Plug-ins folder.
    You have done great work so far, keep it up!
